Our Clinic Nurse plays a vital role in supporting the health and well-being of Independent Living residents by offering compassionate clinical care, promoting wellness, and helping residents maintain independence. This position also serves as the Employee Health Nurse, supporting staff wellness, vaccinations, and infection prevention across our community.

What You Will Do

  • Operate scheduled clinic hours exclusively for Independent Living residents.
  • Provide nursing support appropriate to the setting, including blood pressure checks, wound assessments, medication review, and basic first aid.
  • Resident education on health promotion, preventive care, and chronic condition management.
  • Guidance on when to seek external medical or emergency care.
  • Coordinate resident care with outside providers following illness, surgery, or hospitalization.
  • Respond to urgent calls from Independent Living areas and coordinate EMS when necessary.
  • Document visits and health interactions accurately in the community record system.
  • Coordinate and administer staff vaccines, TB testing, and fit testing as applicable.
  • Provide basic first aid and health guidance for employees as needed.
  • Maintain confidential employee health records in compliance with OSHA and VDH requirements.
  • Assist in outbreak management and support infection control initiatives in collaboration with the Infection Preventionist and Health Services leadership.
  • Serve as a member of the Resident Care Committee (RCC) and Wellness Committee.
  • Maintain and order clinic supplies and ensure readiness for emergencies.
  • Assist with community-wide vaccine clinics and health fairs.
  • Update resident “File of Life” forms and medical documentation.
  • Participate in quality improvement and interdisciplinary meetings as requested.

What You Bring

  • Current RN or LPN license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

  • Minimum of two years in long-term care or geriatric nursing preferred.

  • Current CPR/BLS certification required.

  • Strong clinical judgment, interpersonal communication, organizational, and documentation skills, along with proficiency in EMR systems.
