The Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN) is a registered nurse who is responsible for providing clinical expertise, guidance, and support for nurses. This position develops, facilitates, and evaluates unit orientation and staff development programs in collaboration with the Director and based on regulations and standards. The CRN may also provide hands-on care for some patients in special circumstances in order to provide additional support to the care team.

  • Education Goal Development Develops unit education goals based on a comprehensive needs assessment. Coordinates, develops, and facilitates unit specific staff development, using principles of adult education. Coordinates education and other validations of competency for unit personnel.

  • Patient, Family, Staff and Student Education Identifies present and anticipates future learning needs. Provides counseling and support. Provides information on disease process, illness prevention, and medications. Validates learner comprehension.
  • Utilizes Nursing Process Obtains accurate nursing history. Assesses, documents, and reports physiological and behavioral changes of the patient. Formulates an effective, individualized care plan and evaluates/ revises as needed. Implements hospital and nursing guidelines and procedures in clinical practice.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required- 2-3 years current Med/Surg clinical experience
  • Required- Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Required- 2 years Nursing/Patient Care Experience
  • Required- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing/Patient Care
  • Required within 90 days- Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
  • Preferred- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association
  • Preferred- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Preferred- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
