Job Title: Activity Aide

Location: Skilled Nursing Facility, Illinois

Job Summary: The Activity Aide assists in planning and implementing activities and programs designed to enhance the quality of life for residents in a skilled nursing facility. This role involves working closely with residents to encourage participation in activities that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and conducting recreational activities and programs for residents.

  • Encourage resident participation in activities and provide support as needed.

  • Adapt activities to meet the needs and abilities of individual residents.

  • Maintain accurate records of resident participation and progress.

  • Assist in setting up and cleaning up activity areas and equipment.

  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a coordinated approach to resident care.

  • Provide feedback to the Activity Director on resident engagement and activity effectiveness.

  • Assist in the development of new activity programs based on resident interests and needs.

  • Ensure compliance with facility policies and procedures related to activities.

  • Promote a positive and engaging environment for residents.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a healthcare or skilled nursing facility.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with residents of varying abilities and backgrounds.

  • Creativity and enthusiasm for developing and leading activities.

  • Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Document the following in the EMR for all assigned residents: a) vital signs b) weight c) meal monitoring d) bowl and bladder e) restorative records Detect and report situations that have a high probability of causing accidents or injuries to residents and/or staff. Assure that work/assignment areas are clean and free of hazardous conditions, i.e. spills, excess carts, etc. and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc. are properly stored while working, as well as before leaving such areas for breaks, meal times, and end of the work day. Assure that established infection control and universal precaution practices are maintained when performing nursing procedures. Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies. Assure that equipment is cleaned and prepared for the next shift. Assure that work schedules are followed. Maintain the confidentiality of resident information and honor his/her personal and property rights. Attend nursing department, Care Plan, and other meetings as directed by the DON or ADON. Attend and participate in in-service educational classes and on-the-job training programs as scheduled or as directed. Turn in Days Off and payroll special request forms in a timely manner.
