Third floor nurses will get exposure to wound/wound vac care, tube feedings and tracheostomies and will care for patients with a variety of medical diagnoses, to include: · Pneumonia · Congestive Heart Failure · Abdominal Pain · Altered Mental Status · Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease · Hypertension · Hypotension · Diabetes · Shortness of Breath, among others Full time is 3 12-hour shifts. Our standard shifts are 0645-1915 and 1845-0715 with every other weekend. Holidays are rotated among staff. Each shift is staffed with a charge nurse and nurses are paired with an NA teammate to assist with care. Nurse-to-patient ratios on the unit are typically 1:5 or 1:6. We have a strong team on 3 rd floor Johnston Health Smithfield, and continuously seek ways to improve our processes through our Nurse Council. In the psychiatric setting, aids patients in reality orientation, participates in behavior modification plans/therapy, provides informal support therapy to patients/families, provides verbal de-escalation of potentially aggressive patients, aids in the physical management of aggressive/out-of-control patients, facilitates age appropriate play for children, and monitors the therapeutic milieu activities on assigned unit to ensure that emotional and safety needs of patients are met. 3. Observes, collects, and documents patient information obtained while providing care and promptly report significant changes in the patient's condition to a registered nurse or physician. 4.
