Overview of Position:

Job Profile Summary
Administers skilled direct and indirect patient care to an assigned group of patients according to the patient’s plan of care under the direction of the registered nurse. Adheres to universal precautions and is compliant with infection control policies. Carries out job requirements as delegated by and with the supervision of a registered nurse.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1.    Provides patient care, under the direction of an RN, in a warm and friendly manner.
2.    Accurately takes and records measurements or readings.
3.    Administers prescribed medications as indicated/documented by prescribing physician.
4.    Works collaboratively with other caregivers on the unit.
5.    Facilitates cost reduction per procedure by not opening supplies that are not needed. 
6.    Participates in maintaining physician preference cards
7.    Accepts on-call schedule and responds to on call activation within 45 minutes
8.    Uses Epic system to enter orders, confirm orders, and print reports. May use other computer programs required in the area of responsibility
9.    May be asked to serve on department specialty focus team. 
10.    Follows timeout policy

12.    Hand off reporting to the appropriate nursing staff
13.    Demonstrates proficiency with critical thinking related to immediate post-anesthesia management (phase II recovery) as evidenced by airway management, hemodynamics, thermoregulation, PONV, and pain management
14.    Ensures care and maintenance of workstations, including glucometer controls, maintaining warmers (restocking and temperature control), maintaining refrigerator (temperature control), cleaning and restocking of workstation and defibrillator. 
15.    Demonstrates flexibility in accommodating work schedule, such as staggering shifts and coming early or staying late as necessary
16.    Proficient with post operative area expectations, including observations of patients post sedation from Phase II (conscious sedation or monitored anesthesia care), post operative order sets, and discharge of post procedural patients
17.    Properly decontaminates instruments and/or scopes, re-sterilize, and maintain log of activity
18.    Keeps the equipment coordinator and/or manager informed of problems or suspected problems with the various pieces of equipment in the procedure room
19.    Assists the procedural nurse with documenting implant records and specimen collection completely and accurately. Assists with documenting correct charges. 

QUALIFICATIONS
1.    High school diploma or equivalent.
2.    Current Ohio LPN license.
3.    Current CPR Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of orientation.
4.    Completion of an approved pharmacology course.
5.    Ability to communicate effectively in an oral and written manner, as well as the ability to observe, assess, guide, and evaluate others
6.    Ability to collect data, interpret findings, set priorities and carry out established plan
7.    Ability to read, calculate, and prepare medication, as well as the ability to observe and analyze any resulting reactions and to apply clinical knowledge.
8.    Demonstrates competence in age-specific patient care.

Licensed Practical Nurse, FT

An applicant with a positive test result will not be offered employment DUTIES: Performs skilled practical nursing procedures or treatments (e.g. administers oxygen; conducts blood glucose testing; applies sterile dressing, inserts catheters; gives enemas & douches; collects specimens), assists physicians (e.g. with client & new employee physical exams, treatments &/or lab tests) & assists in emergencies (e.g. first aid, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, restraining clients), conducts neurological & circulation assessments (e.g. aspirin, anticonvulsants, antihypertensives, decongestives, antihistamines, thyroid & cardiovascular preps, psychotropic) medication in oral, rectal or injection form (i.e. administers intramuscular & subcutaneous injections & TB skin tests), provides medication instructions to clients. Maintains medication records (e.g. charts client records, prepares & counts medication, maintains medication stock & medical equipment & supplies). Provides general nursing, direct care (e.g. takes client vital signs; assists with personal grooming & hygiene, bathing or daily living activities; administers topical ointments & solutions, eye, ear &/or nose drops; applies bandages & warm/cold compresses, escorts clients & assists with recreational activities). What you'll do as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Cambridge Developmental Center: Medication and treatment administration. Checking residents per direct care staff concerns and post incident. Completing documentation – i.e. 24-hour report, nursing notes, medication administration record and physician orders. Acts as a liaison with physicians by communicating medical concerns of residents with physicians and other medical consultants and then informing team members of treatment recommendations. Attends meetings i.e. medication reviews, admission/discharge and special team meetings. Assists with physical exams of individuals. Preparing and filing medical related documents. 60 cent shift differential for all hours worked on 2nd or 3rd shift. Pay increase after 180 days. Every other weekend off. Mandatory hours are required. Sign-on bonus of $1000 available - $500 to be paid after 120 days and remaining $500 to be paid after 1 year.
