Hours: Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:00pm, 6:30am-2:30pm,7:00am-3:00pm, 7:30am-3:30pm, 8:00am-4:00pm,9:00am-5:00pm. No weekends, holiday or call. Position for pre-op and post-op.

Summary:

The Operating Nurse anticipates and fulfills the needs of the patients, coordinates activities in room, and communicates effectively with staff and others. He/she assures that documentation is appropriate, accurate, and complete. The Operating Nurse collaborates with other disciplines to revise the patient care plans according to changing patient needs. He/she also ensures individual skills are current by attending relevant education programs and maintaining status.

Responsibilities:

EDUCATION

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current registration as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of New York
  • BSN strongly preferred
  • BLS Certification required

EXPERIENCE

  • Two (2) years of acute care experience required
  • One (1) year of operating room experience or completion of a postgraduate perioperative program preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer skills
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of staff including physicians, etc.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • The position required heavy physical demands of lifting, positioning patients and moving equipment
  • Works on a nursing unit and in patient rooms
