Seniors Helping Seniors® in-home care services of Des Moines, IA (SHS) brightens the lives of seniors who can benefit from a helping hand and a friendly smile. Our caregivers, who are seniors themselves, make life a little easier by providing compassionate care in the comfort of our care receiver’s home.

SHS empowers seniors to continue living independently by caring for day-to-day tasks that become more challenging as seniors age.

This posting is for the BNewton area; however, availability in all of the Des Moines area is preferred.

Qualifications:

· Enjoy working with our senior population

· Be a caring, empathetic, compassionate and reliable individual

· Understand the importance of our services to our seniors

· Have a positive attitude and be dedicated to our SHS mission

· High level of emotional intelligence

· Ability to follow detailed instructions to execute our care plan

· Maturity to deal effectively with the demands of the job

· Maintain the highest standards of customer service and professionalism set by SHS

· Be proactive to find other ways to help our seniors once all tasks have been completed

 

Companionship and Homemaker Duties may include:

· Provide Companionship

· Assist with Light Housekeeping such as laundry, vacuuming, washing dishes, etc…

· Shopping and Errands

· Meal Preparation

· Medication Reminders

· Pet Care

· Light Yard Work

· Light Handyman Services

· Overnight Supervision

· Incidental Transportation to doctor’s appointments, family, or their favorite restaurant

 

 

 

Personal Care Duties may include:

· Assist with Dressing

· Assist with Feeding

· Assist with Showering / Bathing

· Mobility Assistance

· Assist with Toileting / Incontinence

· Memory Care

 

Other Responsibilities:

· Arrive on Time for all Services

· Maintain documentation of all services provided

· Record and report changes in the client’s physical condition, behavior, or appearance to our office staff

· Communicate regularly and proactively with our office staff

· Participate in relevant in-service opportunities and other informational meeting when possible

· Clock in and out using our care management system
