Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Associate Director of Nursing directs, supervises and coordinates functions and activities in the facility. Provides assistance to the DON for evaluating the quality and appropriateness of care, the effectiveness and efficiency of systems within the setting, and instituting practice changes based on evaluation. As a nursing leader, promotes institutional and professional nursing values, goals, and objectives among nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members. Ensures initial and on-going competency of clinical staff. Implements, and evaluates application of education based on staff's observed clinical performance and knowledge. Directs the implementation of and ensures compliance with standards of nursing practice and adherence to all regulatory requirements. This position entails 24 hour responsibility, authority and accountability.

Responsibilities:

EDUCATION

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing required
  • Masters of Science Degree in Nursing or Education Preferred
  • Current New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse required
  • Current BLS Certification required or obtained within 3 (three) months of hire
  • Wound Care Certified (WCC) or obtained within 18 (eighteen) months of hire

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of four (4) years previous long term care, sub-acute, certified home health care, or medical/ surgical RN experience required
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in adult learning/ teaching preferred
