Essential Functions

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.

Qualifications

Education

  • Degree from an accredited School of Nursing Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred
  • Preferred: Specialty certification

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years RN experience required in Labor & Delivery/post partum/newborn experience (L&D or LDRP)

Credentials

  • Required: State of Oregon Nursing license
  • Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support
  • Required: NRP at date of hire
  • ACLS according to Resuscitation Training Completion Requirements policy.
  • AWHONN Basic and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Course must be obtained within a standard grace period from hire or transfer, as specified in the PeaceHealth Policy Resuscitation Training Completion Requirements or upon hire.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs. (Required)

Working Conditions

Lifting

  • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
  • Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts).
  • Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
  • Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.
  • Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently.
  • Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.

This is a .9 FTE Night Shift position that will work 12-hour shifts, 1800 - 0630. The training program is approximately 6 months in length, and will be done primarily on day shift. LDRP Birth Center model, so will train to both Mom-Baby and Labor & Delivery Qualifications : Must be a Registered Nurse, new to Labor & Delivery, with at least 1 year of RN work experience *Nurses selected for this program will be obligated to work in the Peacehealth St. John Labor & Delivery Department for a minimum of 24 months holding 0.6 FTE or higher, from the end date of successful completion of the training program.
