Our Emergency Department at UW Medical Center-Montlake has an opportunity for an Advanced Practice Provider  to see patients in the Fast-Track stream of care as well as exposing them to high acuity challenging patients.

The ED Advanced Practice Provider is a member of the inter-professional team that includes attending physicians, residents, pharmacists, medical and pharmacy students and registered nurses. 

Description

  • Evaluate and treat acute and minor illnesses and injuries presenting to the ED.
  • Serve as backup for Campus Health for employees with blood-borne exposures or job-related injury.
  • Function independently in our vertical care area.
  • Minor procedures including but not limited to laceration repair, incision and drainage of abscesses, splint applications, etc.
  • Proficient assessment of emergent/urgent complaints to determine complexity and stability of patients.
  • Functioning as a member of a multi-disciplinary health care team within the Emergency Department.
  • Close collaboration with academic Emergency Medicine attending physicians to provide excellent care to a complex patient population at our tertiary referral center.

SCHEDULE

  • 75% (30hrs per week)- Evening shift-rotating weekends.

Requirements

  • Current and unencumbered license as an Advance Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) OR Physician Assistants (PA) in the state of Washington
  • ARNP have a WA state RN license to practice or MSL
  • Graduated from an accredited school of Nursing (ARNP) or a accredited program for Physician Assistant studies (PA)
  • Must be board certified; ARNP certified by ANCC or AAPP; PA certified from NCCAP
  • Preferred ED Fellowship trained or equivalent ED/Urgent Care experience.
  • For PA candidates: Preferred Emergency Medicine CAQ
  • BLS,ACLS and PALS certification.

WORK SCHEDULE 40 hours per week Monday-Friday 7:30am - 5:00pm; the exact shift times may vary each week Our clinic is closed on weekends and holidays Department Description Our Outpatient Headache Clinic treats migraines, cluster headaches, and similar conditions linked to chronic pain. Our care team includes the only board-certified headache specialist in Washington State, and we pride ourselves on helping patients improve their quality of life. Therapies offered at our clinic include BOTOX, Occipital Nerve Blocks, CEFALY and gammaCore. It is our mission that patients referred to us for care will achieve enhanced quality of life through their experiences at the Headache Clinic. Our clinic is located at the Roosevelt Medical Center in the Seattle University District. Primary Job Responsibilities Conducts initial consults and follow-up visits for patients With keen attention to the specific needs of the patient, delivers excellent care with compassion and sound medical knowledge Coordinates and monitors patients' status in conjunction with attending physicians, social workers, and providers Responds to patients' healthcare needs, providing triage, urgent care and interventions as necessary Follow patients, including longitudinal care (as appropriate) and follow-up, in conjunction with other providers Requirements Current and valid Washington State ARNP licensure or Physician Assistant licensure Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or an accredited Physician Assistant Program DEA prescriptive authority Clinical expertise in pain management, neuroscience, and related disorders Proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment About Uw Medical Center-montlake UW Medical Center is an acute care academic medical center located in Seattle with two campuses: Montlake and Northwest.
