We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate nurse to serve as a Unit Manager within our long-term care facility. Qualifications
Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) currently licensed in the State of employment
Genuine interest in geriatric nursing and long-term care
Ability to make sound judgments and decisions
Physically fit, mentally and emotionally stable
Familiarity with facility policies and procedures
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Key Responsibilities
Promote census growth and understand its impact on facility success
Make rounds and confer with nursing staff to monitor resident care
Report on changes in resident conditions to the Administrative Office
Collaborate with department heads and consultants (e.g., dietary, pharmacy, therapy)
Supervise nursing personnel across all shifts
Assist with in-service education, staff meetings, and orientation
Review and update nursing care plans
Follow directives from the Director of Nursing (DON) and provide written reports during their absence
Conduct monthly surveys on resident care status and compile reports
Address nursing-related issues in the absence of the DON
Follow up on recommendations from the consulting pharmacist
Provide floor coverage during staffing shortages
Praise and discipline staff as needed; assist with performance evaluations and appraisals
Issue warning notices for performance deficiencies
Identify educational needs and coordinate in-service training
Oversee Utilization Review activities in accordance with Medicare and Medicaid guidelines
Review and update resident levels of care daily
Educate staff on documentation requirements for skilled care
Verify certifications for new admissions
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods
Lift and transfer residents as needed (with assistance when necessary)
Manual dexterity for handling medical equipment and documentation
Must be able to respond effectively to emergencies and manage stressful situations professionally
