Staff RN - Lisle/Westmont - Immediate Care - Part Time

Position Highlights:

  • Part Time: 24-28 hours a week
  • Hours: 8am to 8pm M-F, 8am to 4pm Sat/Sun. 2-3 weekday shifts per week and every other weekend. (Differential pay is offered for nights and weekends), other locations are open 9am to 9pm on weekdays

Responsibilities

  • Depending on Practice Site Requirements, an incumbent in this position may not perform all the key responsibilities listed below. However, it is expected that at least 80% of the responsibilities are performed for this job. Travel to other sites may be required.
  • Patient Assessment and Treatment: Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Assists Provider in taking patient histories, obtaining vital signs, and preparing patient for routine exams or procedures, including collecting and processing specimens. Observes, records and reports the patient's condition and reaction to treatments and/or drugs. Where appropriate, administers first aid, immunizations and injections; assists Provider with minor surgical procedures, including the application and/or removal of casts, posterior molds and splints, sutures and staples. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques and as directed by the Provider; including oral, cutaneous (i.e., patch), intramuscular, and subcutaneous and IV routes (RNs only). Prepares and orders tests: fills out lab requisitions, test orders, patient forms and referral forms as per the Provider's request. Tracks and obtains all test results for Provider review; notifies patients of results as directed. Assesses the patient's physical, age specific, and psycho-social needs as related to the disease process, treatment, and education.
  • Patient Documentation: Maintains accurate and detailed patient records, charts and other pertinent information; posts tests and examination results. Ensures medical chart/lab test results are available and complete and all records are appropriately secured in the patient chart.
  • Patient/Family Education: Delivers patient education, according to the individualized needs of the patient and as prescribed by the Provider and/or Group policy. Educates patient and/or family members about diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition and maintenance of health and wellness. Responds to patient questions and appropriately provides reassurance while responding to patient concerns.
  • Triage Phone Response: Responds to/refers incoming patient treatment-related phone calls. Triages patient messages and responds in accordance with departmental policy and procedures. May assist in arranging tests or admissions, calling in prescriptions, etc. Reviews and prioritizes same day messages. Under direction of the Provider, RNs can assess and determine patient needs... LPNs can convey symptoms to a Registered Nurse, physician, PA or NA for best course of action.
  • Safety Procedures: Responsible for routine maintenance and preparation of medical equipment; cleans, disinfects, and/or sterilizes instruments and equipment following CDC safety and OSHA standards. Follows Group policy and OSHA guidelines for handling of blood and body fluids and uses PPE appropriately. Maintains quality assurance records of the disinfection process; serves as a role model of safe office practice.
  • Clinical Resource for Staff: Performs and delegates a variety of tasks to facilitate patient office visits and procedures. Aware of coding and reimbursement issues in delivering care. Available to other office clinical and non-clinical staff to answer questions and provide assistance as appropriate. Assists in orienting and training new staff. Seeks opportunities to improve or enhance nursing and leadership skills.
  • Other Duties as Assigned: (Depending on Office Specific Requirements)
    • Maintain Medication Count: Ensures that all controlled substances are secured and appropriately accounted for on a daily basis. Inventories drugs and relays or orders additional supplies. Ensures appropriate transport of expired medications to the centralized mail room.
    • Schedules Tests/Procedures: May schedule tests and procedures and obtain insurance pre-authorization.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Registered Nursing program.
  • Knowledge of nursing skills in accordance with nursing standards in the Nurse Practice Act.
  • Must have a current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification
  • A current and valid Illinois Nurse License.

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $32.65-49.00, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.

This position is a 100% onsite opportunity . You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area. Eligible for a Sign-on Bonus up to $15,000 With the leadership of the Manager, the Registered Nurse functions as an interactive resource in clinical nursing and professional practice. The Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating and performing direct nursing care for patients, utilizing concepts of the nursing process, serving as resource, preceptor, mentor, and leader for physicians, professional peers, and other fellow employees, and providing participative supervision to the Patient Care Team Members in collaboration with the Patient Manager. Essential Job Functions Collaborates closely with physicians to assess, design, coordinate, implement, and evaluate the patient’s plan of care and the patient’s outcomes. Demonstrates the necessary skills and knowledge to provide complex nursing skills and delegates tasks to other Care Team members according to unit-specific competencies as appropriate to the age of the patients served as delineated in the Patient Care Centers Scope of Care. Responsible for and monitors the quality of patient care and patient satisfaction. Accurately and independently pursues professional development opportunities. Assumes responsibility for assure the daily operations of the Patient Care Center are effectively and efficiently maintained. Works within the accepted service standards and supports the Vision of Ingalls Hospital. Works in partnership with other patient care team members and proactively identifies and provides for the individual patient, family, and physician needs exceeding their expectations, and employing appropriate customer relations. Knows, follows, and actively supports the philosophy, mission, and Vision of Ingalls Hospital. Adheres to all hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care. Observes and adhere to all corporate compliance requirements and communicate issues as they arise to the appropriate parties as identified in the Corporate Compliance Plan. Required Qualifications Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) OR Associate's (ADN) Must hold a current RN Licensure State of Illinois Department of Professional Regulation or valid temporary permit to practice nursing in the State of Illinois Must hold a current Basic Life Support certification (Healthcare Provider Recognition) Preferred Qualifications Acute care or related experience providing nursing care to patients within at least the last five years.
