Responsibilities

Major Duties:

Serve as Nurse Midwife for an Army Medical Hospital, providing management and care of mothers and babies throughout the maternity cycle.
Collaborate with Obstetricians and Gynecologists when caring for women with obstetric, gynecologic, and general medical complications in both the ambulatory and inpatient settings.
Perform accurate history and physical examination on obstetric, gynecologic, and neonatal patients.
Perform and/or request laboratory, radiologic and other diagnostic and screening tests, interpret results, and assess specific problems/complications.
Provide inpatient obstetrical care including labor management and vaginal delivery.
Start intravenous infusions; select and administer appropriate analgesia and anesthesia according to protocols.
Provide well woman care to include family planning, counseling and the prescription of contraceptives.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Overview Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse-Anesthetist), Ft Campbell, KY Occupying a generous portion of the border between Kentucky and Tennessee, Fort Campbell supports the fourth largest military population in the Army (and the 7th largest in the Department of Defense). Responsible to the Chief, Anesthesia Section, for complying with current standards of anesthesia practice and care. Performs duties as a Nurse Anesthetist on-call responding to surgical emergencies on a 24 hour basis. Provides 24-hour obstetrical Anesthesia Coverage on a rotating basis. 2. Fort Cavazos is a United States Army post located in the beautiful 'hill and lake' country of Central Texas between Killeen and Copperas Cove and is approximately 60 miles north of the capital city of Austin, 50 miles south of Waco, 160 miles south of Dallas, and 150 miles north of San Antonio. The post is named after Gen. Richard E. Cavazos, a native Texan and the US Army’s first Hispanic four-star general. Formerly named Fort Hood for Confederate General John Bell Hood, the post is located halfway between Austin and Waco, about 60 mi from each, within the U.S. state of Texas.
