A Wound Care Nurse specializes in the proper management and treatment of wounds, including acute and chronic wounds, surgical incisions, and various types of ulcers. The wound care specialty is vital in preventing infections, promoting healing, and helping patients with wound management.


Registered Nurse (RN) Wound Care Nurse Job Responsibilities:

  • Wound management interventions, protocols, policy and procedure.

  • Round with physicians, ADON and Unit Managers to assess and document wound healing/progression and plan of care.

  • Provide education to the nursing staff to provide compliance with Wound Management.

  • Ensure physicians orders are carried out accurately and timely

  • Mentor new licensed staff during initial orientation period, providing coaching and discipline when necessary.

  • Familiarize self with State and Federal Regulations to be a resource person for training purposes.

Registered Nurse (RN) Wound Care Nurse Required qualifications:

  • Graduate of approved Registered Nurse (RN) Program.

  • Previous experience as a Wound Nurse in an acute care/long term care setting is desirable.

  • Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Pennsylvania.   

  • Wound Care Certified Certification is desirable.
