A Registered Nurse Charge Medical provides nursing care in a medical setting to the youth within the guidelines of the Nurse Practice Act, DJS Standards, policy, and procedure. Employees in this classification assign review, approve the work of, and train Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and the non-licensed nursing or support staff assigned to the work area for a shift.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurses.

Experience: Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse, one year of which must have been in the Medical option.

Desired Or Preferred Qualifications Preferred candidates should possess the following: Experience in managing day to day clinical/nursing operations in an acute hospital or in-patient behavioral hospital; Experience managing staffing office/scheduling; Expert knowledge of TJC, COMAR and CMS regulations of a behavioral health hospital; Experience in providing training and education to nursing employees; and, Flexibility in assisting the nursing department as situations arise. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215 or possess a current multi-state license in party states that candidates have declared as primary states of residence. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
