Job Duties

Clinical knowledge of principles and practices of practical nursing and ability to implement planned nursing care and provide guidance to other staff. Knowledge of normal anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, body mechanics, nursing procedures, growth and development, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Skills in performing patient assessments, medication administration, tube feedings, sterile and non-sterile treatments, suctioning, tracheotomy care and catherterizations. Ability to carry out nursing care procedures including the physical ability to turn, bend & lift helpless patients without restrictions. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing along with the ability to work overtime as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Current licensure as LPN with the Virginia State Board of Nursing.


Graduation from an accredited School of Practical Nursing along with successful completion of an acceptable Pharmacology course.


Proven experience as a licensed practical nurse in a long-term care setting or in a facility providing care to the mentally ill or mentally retarded.
