Position Summary:

Boulder City Hospital is seeking a Per Diem Surgical Technician to join our Surgical Services Department. This position assists surgeons and physicians during operative, invasive, and GI procedures while ensuring a sterile, safe, and well-organized environment.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist surgeons during operative, invasive, and endoscopic procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies.
  • Follow strict principles of aseptic technique and surgical protocols.
  • Ensure proper sterilization and care of instruments and equipment.
  • Observe safety procedures in all patient care and clinical activities.
  • Support the surgical team as an active, collaborative team member.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Program.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required.
  • Current BLS certification (must be renewed every 2 years).
  • Minimum 1 year of operating room experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with decontamination, sterile processing, instrumentation, and GI procedures.
  • Basic computer literacy required.

Schedule:

Per diem shifts available – flexibility required (may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays).

Compensation:

Competitive hourly rate.

Counts sponges, needles, instruments, and related items with circulating nurse before, during, and after surgical procedures.• Assists the operative team with applying sterile drapes to the surgical field. Passes instruments, sutures, and other supplies to the sterile operative team. Anticipates surgeon’s needs, and provides additional assistance as directed. Cares for surgical specimens on the sterile field. Cleans and prepares instruments and reusable supplies for terminal sterilization and decontamination.• Performs recovery room or basic nursing duties. Assists surgeon and nursing staff with post-operative care as deemed appropriate by surgeon. Administers oxygen, helps arouse patient, and carries out surgeon’s post- operative orders. Assists with identifying and managing of postoperative complications. Provides post-operative instructions and paperwork for patient.• Performs general clinic functions. Prepares patients, instruments, supplies, and equipment for specialized procedures in the OR and specialty clinics. Assists specialty surgeon during surgical and diagnostic procedures. Assembles, operates, and maintains diagnostic and therapeutic equipment. Orders diagnostic laboratory and radiographic procedures as directed. Performs activities unique to specific surgical clinics. Schedules clinic appointments and Surgeries. Prepares preoperative paperwork.• Attends in-service training in new procedures, techniques, and equipment.• Ensures a safe work environment, employee safe work habits and patient safety IAW regulatory agencies, infection control policies, and process improvement initiatives. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: * Education: Graduate from a Surgical Technology Program recognized and accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). * Experience: Have at least 12 months of experience within the last 36 months as a surgical services technician . * License or certificate: Completion of an accredited surgical service and clinical course. * Life Support Certifications: Possess ARC or AHA BLS certification. * Security: Must be able to pass a Government background check and obtain a Government security clearance.
