Responsibilities

Position Summary:

    • The Nurse Shift Manager (NSM) is a Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for overseeing patient care and administrative activities in their respective department(s)/unit(s).
    • The Nurse Shift Manager (NSM) will continually evaluate quality and effectiveness of patient care practices and care delivery.
    • Medical/clinical knowledge, technical skills, clinical judgment, interpersonal skills and communication skills as indicated in the current Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Hospitals (CAMH) are essential components of nursing management.
    • Promotes staffing compliance and insures safe staffing assignments.
    • Monitors staffing to achieve productivity and budget standards.
    • The NSM performs within the scope and standards of practice set for the by the American Nurses Association and any professional organizations specific to specialty to guide practice and standards within the work place.
    • The NSM with the ability to hire, coach, counsel, evaluate, discipline and terminate others.
    • The NSM has the responsibility and authority to assign work, duties and responsibilities, to direct staff, and exercise independent judgment.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • RN license
  • BLS & ACLS
  • National Institutes of Health Stoke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Three years acute hospital clinical experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • One year or greater currrent (within 5 years) experience as charge nurse, relief charge nurse, or nursing managment is required.

Utilization Review Nurse (RN) - Per Diem

Kern Medical has been a community cornerstone since its founding in 1867. Kern Medical offers a range of primary, specialty, and multi-specialty services including high-risk pregnancy care, inpatient psychiatric services integrated with county mental health programs, and a growing network of outpatient clinics providing personalize patient-centered wellness care. Kern Medical cares for 15,000 inpatients and 125,000 clinic patients a year. Per Diem employees supplement department staffing needs, with no guarantee of minimum hours. Must be willing and available to work four (4) shifts per six (6) week scheduling period. Position: Per Diem Utilization Review Nurse (RN) Compensation: The estimated pay for this position is $40.2436 to $63.4118 per hour. This reflects only a portion of the total compensation package for this position. Additional compensation may be available for this role through differentials, incentives, and bonuses. Definition: Under supervision, to provide and implement a hospital utilization review and discharge planning program; and to do related work as required.
