Job Posting Summary

Baptist Health is looking for a Surgical Technologist to join our Main Operating Room Team at our Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute (JOI). This is a PRN, days position. This Surgical Technologist position does not have a call requirement, and the candidate would not work nights, weekends, or holidays. 

A surgical technologist in this role will work as part of the surgical services and operating room teams in the Main OR. The individual will assist the surgical team during surgeries, ensure a sterile environment, hand instruments to surgeons during procedures, and maintain patient safety. Between surgeries, the individual will clean and restock the operating room. Throughout the day, precision, attention to detail, and teamwork are paramount in providing quality patient care.

JOI's Main OR is home to 4 state of the art operating rooms and is the official surgery center for the Jacksonville Jaguars! Most surgeries performed are routine elective cases and include sports medicine, foot, ankle, and hands cases.

As a Surgical Technologist in the Main OR your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing for patient needs as recognized through use of the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) and the mission statement organization. 
  • Supervision of care provided by supportive personnel and coordination of care provided by ancillary services. 
  • Including patients and significant other (SO)/families in developing an individualized plan of care.
  • Education of patients/SO/families to their disease process and plan of care 
  • Coordination and preparation of assigned room/case, assessment of patient care needs and the anticipation of needs of the case. 
  • This position does not require call, nights, or weekends.
