Minimum Job Requirements for Nurse Practitioner:

Independent practice provider preferred, where applicable per State regulation.

Independent family practice experience including routine wellness care, chronic care management, and urgent visit, preferred

Advanced Practice Provider, Trauma (PRN)

Overview The only Level 1 Trauma Center in Central Illinois is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our dynamic Trauma and Emergency General Surgery Team. You will work alongside 10 experienced APPs and 10 trauma surgeons in a collaborative, high-acuity environment that is also home to a highly respected surgery residency program. This role offers extensive opportunities to develop advanced clinical skill, including procedural experience and comprehensive management of acutely ill trauma and surgical patients in the Trauma Bay, Surgical ICU, and general medicine floors. Autonomy in patient care and strong interdisciplinary collaboration are central to this role. APPs are actively involved in education, quality improvement, and research initiatives, contributing to the advancement of trauma care. Overview The Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) in Cardiovascular Surgery plays an integral role in the comprehensive care of adult cardiothoracic surgical patients. This provider works collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, intensivists, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality perioperative care. Responsibilities include inpatient rounding, first assisting in the operating room, managing pre‑ and postoperative patients, and participating in call coverage. Overview: Serve as first assist in cardiovascular surgical procedures, including CABG, valve surgery, aortic procedures, and other cardiothoracic operations. Perform surgical tasks such as vein harvesting, suturing, retraction, cannulation assistance, and hemostasis. Support preoperative preparation and postoperative handoff to ICU teams. Perform daily rounds on postoperative and step‑down patients. Manage routine and complex postoperative issues, including hemodynamic monitoring, chest tube management, wound care, and medication adjustments.
