Description We are looking for an Nurse Practitioner who speaks Spanish and English. The APN/NP is a specialty health care provider who provides medical and nursing services to individuals and families. The APN/NP is adept at diagnosing and managing acute and chronic illnesses, and emphasizes health promotion and disease prevention. Services include, but are not limited to, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic and laboratory tests, prescribing medications, and teaching counseling individuals and families. Comprehensive health assessments with a broad scope of medical management for patients with acute and/or chronic health problems characterize the APN/NP’s practice. This position will work in Women's Health in the Specialty Clinic. Position available: Regstry,1PM-5PM, 1 day per week. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Demonstrates clinical expertise in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of health problems. Develops medical treatment plans based on scientific evidence-based practice and evaluates outcomes. Effectively communicates and collaborate with physicians and other members of the health care team to resolve patient care problems and enhance care delivery. Mentors staff/students in aspects of advanced nursing practice and patient care Conducts comprehensive appraisals of patient health status by taking health histories and performing physical examinations. Initiate and participate in admission histories and physicals, medical consultations in related subspecialty, and discharge planning. Order diagnostic tests and procedures. Establish a diagnosis based on the history, physical examination and diagnostic test results. Formulates differential diagnosis. Evaluate results of diagnostic testing of laboratory tests, EKG’s imaging studies, and medical procedures. Make appropriate consultations and referrals. Develop a treatment plan based on diagnosis and evidence-based practice that is mutually acceptable by the patient and family. Determine the effectiveness of the treatment plan with documentation of patient care outcomes. Reassess and modify the treatment plan to achieve optimal health and medical goals for the patient. Teaches and counsels families in medical conditions, treatment plans, preventive care and anticipated outcomes. Documents in the medical record with SOAP charting all care provided or procedures performed by the APN/NP. Include differential diagnosis in the documentation. Overview The Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) in Cardiovascular Surgery plays an integral role in the comprehensive care of adult cardiothoracic surgical patients. This provider works collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, intensivists, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality perioperative care. Responsibilities include inpatient rounding, first assisting in the operating room, managing pre‑ and postoperative patients, and participating in call coverage. Overview: Serve as first assist in cardiovascular surgical procedures, including CABG, valve surgery, aortic procedures, and other cardiothoracic operations. Perform surgical tasks such as vein harvesting, suturing, retraction, cannulation assistance, and hemostasis. Support preoperative preparation and postoperative handoff to ICU teams. Perform daily rounds on postoperative and step‑down patients. Manage routine and complex postoperative issues, including hemodynamic monitoring, chest tube management, wound care, and medication adjustments. Order and interpret diagnostic tests, labs, imaging, and consults. Coordinate patient care with nursing, case management, rehabilitation, and other specialties. Participate in shared call rotation and support OR call needs.
