ADVANCED PRACTICE PROVIDER CANCER INSTITUTE SUMMARY:

  • Our hospital-based Infusion Center is complete with 15 private and semi-private infusion chairs, a full service infusion pharmacy, an onsite laboratory and conference room to host patient support groups and other educational events
  • The Hematology/Oncology Physician practice maintains 9 outpatient exam rooms and 4 physician consult offices. The Cancer Institute at Mercy Hospital will provide patients with comprehensive care focused around the patient experience including
  • 2 full-time Medical Oncologists
  • Full-time Breast Surgeon
  • Other on site physician oncology specialties including radiation oncology and general surgery
  • Onsite supportive care and symptom management specialized physicians
  • Access to the latest research and clinical trials
  • Nutrition and wellness consultations
  • Dedicated oncology specialized Social Worker to support the psychosocial needs of patients
  • Oncology survivorship program
  • Various support groups comprised of disease specific specialties for both patients and loved ones
  • Onsite Genetic Counseling
  • Financial Counseling Team to help assist with billing and financial support aid 

In this role, the APP will be working directly alongside colleagues to support the day to day clinical operations of our Outpatient Physician Practice, working in collaboration with our Infusion APP team. 

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is an integral part of the delivery of health care and provides for primary care in many ambulatory settings through the CHS Physician Enterprise.  The APP provides patient care under the supervision of a qualified physician and is credentialed through the Medical Staff process.

ADVANCED PRACTICE PROVIDER CANCER INSTITUTE DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Clinical:  Participates in and provides clinical care to patients through interview and observation, evaluation and assessment, intervention, planning and written documentation
  • Obtain a detailed medical history, perform a comprehensive physical examination, diagnose medical problems, order and interpret diagnostic studies, institute appropriate medical treatment, order medications, perform invasive procedures, education and counseling of patients as credentialed
  • Provide Infusion Center coverage as needed, partner with leadership and physician team to provide an overall positive patient experience as it relates from a clinical standpoint 

Education: Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner program

Licensure / Certification:   Current NYS Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner license

National certification PA/NP-C maintained

Maintains continuing education and log as required for certification and/or licensure

BLS training and current certification required from:  American Heart Association or American Red Cross

ACLS current certification where required

Experience:  

  • Minimum of one years’ experience as an APP in a physician practice or ambulatory environment preferred evaluating patients, administering chemotherapeutic agents, monitoring response to treatment and adverse reactions
  • Oncology/Hematology highly preferred


Salary Range

USD $66.55 - USD $90.00 /Hr.
