Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

    • Protecting the patient from injury caused by extraneous objects and chemical, electrical, laser, mechanical, and thermal sources.
    • Performing accounting procedures to protect the patient from unintended retained surgical items.
    • Performing interventions necessary to ensure that the patient’s procedure is performed on the correct site, side, and level.
    • Managing the patient’s specimens according to organizational policy and procedures.
    • Communicating the patient’s status to relevant parties throughout the continuum of care.
    • Administering medications safely and correctly.
    • Performing interventions to maintain the patient’s wound and tissue perfusion at or above baseline levels.
    • Performing interventions to maintain the status of the patient’s genitourinary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological systems and fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balances at or above baseline levels.
    • Performing interventions to protect the patient from surgical site infection.
    • Protecting the patient’s rights, dignity, and privacy.
    • Providing age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards of practice.
    • Providing consistent and comparable care regardless of the setting.
  • Document nursing care accurately, completely, and legibly.
  • Collaborate effectively with other disciplines as applicable.
  • Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Required: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Evidence of continuing education appropriate for skill level and area of practice.

Desired: BSN

Experience:

Required: None.

Desired: Previous Circulator Experience. Peri-op 101 course. Scrub Experience.

Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations: Current RN license in the State of Oregon; ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certification required. Certifications specific to areas of clinical specialty may be preferred.

Equipment/Tools/Work Aids: Infusion pumps, and other medical equipment, computer terminal printer, photocopier, and patient charts.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Ability to provide care for the patient's age-specific, cultural, physical, and psychosocial well-being.

What does the Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) do? Under minimal supervision, the Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have the following background and experience: Education/Training Level I Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred. RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Must maintain continuing education requirements.
