Job Responsibilities

  • Working in contract role in a local acute facility for a designated time period (usually 10-15 weeks)
  • Delivering safe and effective patient care within your scope of practice in a PCU setting
  • Evaluating patients' charts, lab results, diagnostic tests, and medication histories
  • Maintaining up-to-date charting and ensuring accurate records of nursing interventions
  • Taking and monitoring vital signs and changes in condition
  • Administering medication and titrating doses as prescribed
  • Dressing wounds and ensuring proper wound care
  • Initiating IV lines and inserting/removing catheters
  • Coordinating with, and overseeing, nursing assistants and other support staff in the PCU
  • Communicating with patients and their loved ones about treatments, procedures, and continuity of care
  • Ensuring compliance with all facility policies and procedures and relevant standards of care in a PCU environment
  • Being accountable to follow and adhere to care plans for patients

Qualifications and Skills

  • Current Michigan state Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Minimum of 8 months experience as a PCU RN
  • Completion of an approved nursing program (BSN preferred)
  • BLS and ACLS certification from an approved training provider
  • Telemetry certification may be required
  • Immunizations as needed based on facility and location
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Completion of a successful background check
