Get to Know Your Team: Seton Medical Center Harker Heights is an 83-bed acute care hospital offering services such as Cardiology, Emergency Services and a Level IV Trauma Designated ER, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Total Joint Replacement, Gastroenterology, Diagnostic Services and more. Responsibilities The nurse is responsible for the planning and delivery of direct and indirect patient care, developing nursing care plan in coordination with patient, family, and interdisciplinary staff as necessary and communicating changes in patient’s clinical condition with Physicians, Nursing Supervisor/Manager, and co-workers as appropriate. Qualifications Job Requirements: Completion of required education to obtain Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). RN with Texas Board of Nursing – OR – current home state license is required for multi-state license recognition through the Nurse Licensure Compact. BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care. Active ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification through AHA is required upon hire. Active PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) through AHA/American Academy of Pediatrics endorsed program required within 6 months of hire. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information. Preferred Job Requirements: 1+ years of experience in an ICU hospital setting. Experience with patient safety best practices.

Learn About a Day In the Life of a Surgical Tech: Responsibilities Responsible for assisting in patient care and preparation of surgical patients by performing routine and delegated duties according to standards and policies of the surgical center. Perform scrub duties and related procedures. Assist with circulating duties under the direct supervision of the registered nurse (RN) circulator assigned to the patient. Prepares for scheduled, emergent, urgent, and add-on operative procedures by ensuring necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and ready for use. Handles surgical instruments, needles, sharps, sponges, and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. Maintains an accurate count of sponges, needles, sharps, instruments, drugs, and fluids on the sterile field. Assist with cleaning and maintenance of supplies and equipment as required. Suggests and ensures changes are made to the surgeon’s preference cards as approved to include supplies, equipment, positioning devices, and performs other related duties. Qualifications Job Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of a surgical technologist program or military and/or hospital conducted on-the-job training. Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), or have been employed to practice surgical technology before September 1, 2009. BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and before providing direct patient care. Must be familiar with computerized technology associated with endoscopy equipment. Preferred Requirements: 2 years’ experience as a surgical technologist. Experience with patient safety best practices. Training as an endoscopy technician with a hospital background.
