The salary range above represents this position’s earning potential. The anticipated hiring range for this position will be $80,070 to $102,655.64, based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR The Tuberculosis Control Program is currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and professional CHN who will provide comprehensive nursing case management to individuals with TB disease and infection. This position works closely with an interdisciplinary team consisting of other licensed and non-licensed professionals. This program is part of Montgomery County DHHS and plays an essential role in building a healthy and strong community with a very diverse population. The full-time CHN position is essential in meeting the CHN case management needs of the Tuberculosis Control Program. The core responsibilities of this position include: Provide case management services to individuals with TB disease and infection and coordinate client care. Case management services include ongoing interactions with individual clients, their families and service providers. Provide direct care including administration and interpretation of skin and blood tests, collection of sputum samples, and the ability to perform and interpret special screening tests and selected laboratory findings to provide quality nursing care and improve health status of identified target population. Knowledge of TB drugs and pharmaceuticals, dosages, their expected action, method of administration, side effects and contraindications which may arise from administering medications. Perform TB screenings, participate in quality improvement activities and trainings, provide assistance in contact investigations and have knowledge of disease interviewing and investigation methods. Knowledge of functions of other members on assigned disciplinary team, such as CSA's and providing RN delegation of Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) and other CSA responsibilities, and the ability to work cooperatively. The selected candidate will be required to successfully complete a medical examination and drug screening. Experience: Two (2) years of full-time equivalent post-licensure experience as a RN Nurse, one year of which must have been in the nursing area of Public Health and communicable disease with case management. Education: Graduation from a National League for Nursing accredited college or university or an equivalent program as determined by the Maryland Board of Examiners with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. License: Possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Maryland State, of Maryland issued by the Maryland Board of Examiners is required at the time of appointment. If the license is temporary, a regular Maryland RN license must be obtained within ninety (90) days of appointment. The State of Maryland accepts as valid the current RN licensure from a candidate's primary state of residence if that state has an interstate compact with Maryland. Any Registered Nurse (RN) applying for licensure and living in a member state of the Multistate Licensure Compact must take the NCLEX exam in their home state. Note: There will be no substitutions for this section. Preferred Criteria The applications of those individuals meeting the minimum qualifications will be reviewed to determine the extent, relevance of training, and experience in the following areas: Experience in working in a multidisciplinary setting with other public health professions (ex. physicians, x-ray technicians, etc.). Experience in working with diverse populations. Multilingual Spanish at the Basic Level Preferred.
