Purpose and Scope During Spring Break, ensures that the health needs of identified students are met. May provide extra services for students with Individual Education Plans (IEP). Monitors and evaluates service delivery by the other health care staff. Ensures adequate communication is provided to others participating in the care of the students. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Degree plus a minimum of two (2) years of directly related clinical experience. Experience in pediatrics or school nursing services preferred. Current license to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Tennessee required. Certification in First Aid, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation ( CPR) and Automatic External Defibrillator(AED), some ventilator knowledge, and a Tennessee driver's license required. Master's degree in Nursing preferred. The following special conditions are required: Commitment for the entire period of summer school. May involve missing some district training opportunities. Purpose and Scope SUMMARY DESCRIPTION The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing direct health care services to students under the direction of a RN. The Licensed Practical Nurse will administer medication and medical treatment prescribed by the physician. The Licensed Practical Nurse contributes to the nursing assessment by collecting, reporting and recording objective and subjective data in an accurate and timely manner. Provides nursing service to school children with health conditions who require specialized nursing related services, according to the plan of care for that child, including but not limited to, catheterization, G-tube feedings, administration of medications, etc. Communicates with physicians, community agencies, school personnel and parents according to the guidelines from the school system. Maintains accurate, complete and confidential health records of students via the District's electronic charting system. Participates in IEP meetings when needed. Consults with RN on the Individualized Health Care Plan as needed. Administers and documents medication administration accurately and within established timeframes. Effectively communicates to RN any noticeable changes in student; consults with RN and/or other health team members and seeks guidance as necessary. Keeps Clinical Lead/Supervisor informed of incidents or issues requiring his/her attention. Applies and supports policy and procedures of the school system and adheres to state and federal guidelines. Assess the plan of care on a continuous basis. Provide special care for students with diagnosed medical conditions who have nursing as a related service. Provide special care for students during bus transport to and from school through the District's transportation system. Compiles data for monthly reports documenting and explaining nursing activities and procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed. Minimum Qualifications Requires a High School diploma or GED, and 2+ years' experience in a relevant area for a total education/experience of 2 years.
