Position Overview: The ADNS assists in managing the department of nursing and assumes responsibility delegated by the Director of Nursing Services (DNS). Key Responsibilities: Assist in interviewing applicants and recommend hiring of staff and scheduling. Participate in orientation and in-service education training. Participate in performance reviews and personnel files; enforce the personnel policies of the community, including disciplining and terminating care team members. Assist DNS in ensuring compliance with regulations for documentation from physicians and nursing personnel and ensuring that all regional policies/procedures are implemented. Assist with care planning process. Make rounds daily to direct the work of care team members and to observe for hazards, work duty problems, and ensure services are delivered to clients consistent with needs. Assist with Continuous Quality Improvement and corrective follow-up actions. Follow up daily on each unit to ensure changes in status are reported and recorded and that services are provided. Under the direction of the DNS, complete chart audits and report results and progress, and makes recommendations for improvement to the DNS. Ensure proper infection control techniques are utilized. Maintain effective communication with families, residents and community staff. Qualifications: Current RN license by State Board of Nursing in state employed; license must be active, valid, and in good standing. Experience in the long-term care or working with the geriatric population preferred. Must have at least three years nursing experience and one year supervisory experience. Key Responsibilities: Initiate and lead team conferences in development of individualized nursing care plans. Assess and document the residents’ condition and nursing needs. Accurately and promptly implement physicians’ orders. Administer medications, start IVs, and perform treatments for assigned residents and document that treatment as required by Majestic Care and local, state, and federal rules and regulations. Participate in orientation and in-service training for personnel. Assist physicians with special tests and procedures within the scope of state specified Nursing Practice Act. Manage area of responsibility with the goal of achieving and maintaining the highest quality of care possible. Participate in developing, implementing, and evaluating programs that promote the recruitment, retention, development, and continuing education of nursing staff members. Contact physicians as needed/necessary and ensure physician interventions are timely and appropriate. Obtain medications, supplies and medical records needed to provide safe, efficient, and therapeutic are to residents on a continuing basis. Qualifications: Graduate of accredited school of nursing. Licensed as an LPN or RN in the state employed; license must be active, valid, and in good standing. Valid CPR teaching certificate preferred, but not required. Must hold an active CPR license or the ability to obtain within the first 30-days of employment. CPR license must be kept active and current throughout employment. Three years of nursing experience, of which one year in a long-term care environment.
