Nursing Assistant - Full Time Nights

$15.75 - $18 / HOUR
Description Main duties include offering basic physical assistance to patients, feeding patients according to their dietary needs and recording vital signs. Assists with patient admission, transfer, discharge procedures Records vital signs on the computer: temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, intake/output Administers complete patient hygiene; promptly responds to call lights; makes routine rounds throughout the shift. Reports pertinent changes in the condition of a patient to the Registered Nurse. Provides patient safety through preventive measures (side rails, checking arm bands, reporting any hazards to the RN). Adheres to universal precautions, infection control, and isolation procedures. Assists patients with ambulating/transferring, and transports patients. Maintains patient rooms, nursing unit, and storage areas in a clean and orderly manner Other roles and responsibilities as assigned. Requirements Education/Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent CPR certification Preferred: Successful completion of a nursing assistant course/training or currently enrolled in a nursing program with completion of a semester of clinicals preferred Prior experience in a healthcare facility/setting preferred Required Skills/Abilities Demonstrated communication/interpersonal skills Adaptability to function efficiently within a multi-tasking environment Physical Requirements: Work may routinely be of heavy demand. Surgical Technologist

$23 - $32 / HOUR
Description Surgical technologists assist surgeons during surgical procedures by anticipating surgeon needs to make sure the procedure is executed as smoothly and efficiently as possible. They prepare and organize the operating room, clean and sterilize equipment, and maintain a sterile environment. Surgical technologists are part of the surgical team and work under the supervision of registered nurse or operating manager. Surgical technologists are detail-oriented and have excellent dexterity. Prepare and organize the operating room equipment, instruments, and supplies as required for various surgical procedures Anticipate surgeon and patient needs during a procedure Take care of specimens, prepare, check, and monitor medications, and assist with dressings Set up a sterile and sanitary environment, and maintain the sterile field for the patient during procedures Utilize correct body mechanics in moving, transporting, and positioning patients, stretchers, and/or tables in order to prevent injury to patient and personnel Follow relevant safety and sanitation guidelines Participate in orientation and education of all operating room staff on an ongoing basis Participate in stocking and restocking medical supplies Inspect, replace, and sterilize medical instruments Provide surgeons and patients with necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment Other roles and responsibilities as assigned Requirements Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent Certification as a surgical technologist preferred, or similar experience in practical nursing or an operating room 1-2 years experience working as a surgical technologist preferred Continuing in-services and education program required Current Basic Life Support certificate required Skills/Abilities: Ability to interact comfortably with patients, families, and staff in a stressful environment Demonstrated knowledge of operation and maintenance of equipment and supplies located in the operating room Physical Requirements: Work is of medium to heavy demand. Description Provides professional nursing care for patients on assigned nursing units, in accordance with established statutes, standards and practices. Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care. Utilizes all resources in the initial assessment of patient needs, including biophysical, psychosocial, cultural, environmental, discharge planning, self-care, and education. Performs a reassessment each shift, upon transfer or discharge, and more frequently as necessary. Practices universal precautions, infection control, and isolation procedures. Maintains accurate and concise documentation of patient status, nursing interventions, and patient responses. Participates in discharge planning; upon discharge ensures that a written teaching/discharge plan has been developed for assigned patients, including disease process, complications, medications, diet, physical activity, and self-care needs. Demonstrates an understanding of the role of all health care providers to appropriately meet the needs of the patient. Demonstrates the ability to make effective nursing judgements in routine and emergency situations. Other roles and responsibilities as assigned. Requirements Education and Experience: Licensed and current registration in the state of Illinois. Current CPR certification. Clinical experience preferred. Required Skills/Abilities: Ability to initiate a nursing plan of care and identify appropriate nursing interventions and evaluations.
