Position Purpose: Assists in organizing and administering the department of nursing while providing quality nursing care and assumes responsibilities delegated by the Director of Nursing. Essential Functions of Position: Assists in supervising the assignment and scheduling of nursing staff to meet resident needs Provides nursing care on shift when needed. Assists and cooperates with medical staff. Assists in solving nursing services problems. Assists in implementing company forms/systems and policies and procedures. Assists in supervising the maintenance of records of nursing,, medical and related services. Assists in validating the accuracy of MDS and Care Plans. Supports the facility policies and programs to instill a better understanding and acceptance by the staff. Participates in facility quality improvement program. Conducts in-service programs and orientation programs. Reviews physician orders daily and monthly, and participates in triple check process. As requested, assists with DON responsibilities. Supervises and evaluates implementation of the Resident Rights. Supervises RN's and LVNs. Participates and attends periodic in-services and staff meetings. Perform additional duties as assigned. Education/Requirements: Two (2) years previous nursing experience required, preferably working with a geriatric long term care population; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have CNA license and KMA certification for consideration POSITION PURPOSE: Ensure proper dosage, distribution, and documentation of medication administration in accordance with physician orders and following State and Federal regulations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION: · Prepare medications for resident administration as specified in the physician order, verifying medication, dose, route, time, and reason for administration. · Safely administering resident medication by verifying correct resident, obtaining any required vital signs pre-administration, assisting with resident repositioning as needed, and administering at a pace comfortable to the resident. · Document medication administration in the medical record. · Maintain medication cart in a clean and efficient manner. · Ensure timely medication reorders from pharmacy as indicated. · Label/date opened medication bottles/vials/boxes as indicated. · Perform additional duties as assigned, which may include State Registered Nurse Aide (CNA) duties for which the KMA is qualified. This may include, but not limited to, assists with resident transfers and positioning, ambulation, activities of daily living including personal care, or feeding assistance. EDUCATION/ REQUIREMENTS: A State Registered Nurse Aide that has successfully completed Kentucky Medication Aide training. Maintain current/active SRNA and KMA status by completing required annual training.
