POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant may give patient care. They may perform selected nursing procedures as defined in the Patient Care Standards Manual. The CNA transports non-controlled medications to and from pharmacy. Under supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant provides a support function to the nurse by coordinating special tasks and assisting where needed. The Certified Nursing Assistant collaborates with other members of the patient care team to provide care in accordance with the medical plan of care. EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE: Minimum: Must meet at least one of the following: Graduate from an accredited medical assistant program. Completed a formal medical training program of the United States Armed Forces AND one year back-office patient care experience in a medical office. Previous medical training such as an EMT, Nurse Assistant or Certified Nurse Assistant AND one year back-office patient care experience in a medical office. Associate degree or higher in a clinical healthcare field and one-year back-office patient care experience in a medical office.
