Hospital Details Vibra Hospital of Southeastern Massachusetts, located in New Bedford, MA, is a 90 bed Critical Care Hospital, providing acute care services to patients recovering from serious illnesses or injuries. Often our patients require additional critical care services for medically complex conditions such as trauma, infectious diseases, wound healing, cardiovascular disease, stroke, amputation and ventilator weaning. Responsibilities Provides assistance to licensed nursing personnel in the provision of patient care by providing and documenting activities of daily living, including personal hygiene and grooming, and providing a clean, healthy and safe environment. Utilizes basic infection control procedures, basic nutrition and fluid intake skills. Recognizes emergency situations and responds. Required Skills: High school diploma or equivalent required. Current, valid, and active certification to practice as a Nurse Apprentice, Nurse Technician or Certified Nursing Assistant as applicable in the state of employment required; OR must be an active Nursing student enrolled in a Nursing Program or recent graduate of such program and allowed to practice as a Nurse, Nurse Apprentice or Nurse Technician in the state of employment required. Must be an active Nursing student enrolled in a Nursing Program. Current BLS certification from a Vibra-approved vendor required. Additional Qualifications/Skills : Acute care/LTAC experience preferred. Ability to project a professional image. Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements. Strong organizational, prioritizing and analytical skills. Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant. Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions. Freedom from illegal use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace. Student Nurse Assistant-1

Under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse assigned, performs a variety of direct patient care activities in caring for the personal needs and comforts of the patient. Assists with activities to assist the patient in meeting basic human needs including but not limited to nutrition, hydration, mobility, comfort, elimination, socialization, rest, and hygiene. Collects, reports and documents simple data. The Student Nurse Assistant functions within policies, procedures and guidelines of SMH in accordance with the CDC and OSHA standards, and any other applicable regulatory or accreditation agency. Required Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience: Currently matriculating in an accredited Nursing Program Successful completion of one semester of Nursing Clinical with expected graduation as a RN within 1-2 years Demonstrates the knowledge and skills needed to assist in providing patient care, Good organizational skills Personal maturity, accuracy and flexibility Preferred Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience: N/A Educational Requirements: High School Graduate or equivalent required; Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program Completion of at least one clinical rotation License/Certification: BLS competent Report to: Nurse Manager Manages: N/A Age Specific Criteria: Ability to effectively communicate to all age levels served within the scope of the position/assigned areas.
