JOB REQUIREMENTS Education Nursing student within 12 months of graduation. Enrollment in accredited nursing school (RN) is mandatory to maintain employment in the nurse residency program. Applicant must provide documentation of successful completion in basic nursing fundamentals/skills checklist from school. The student nurse resident must work 12-24 hours per week to maintain employment. CPR certification required. Experience Knowledge of patient care technician practices and related patient care activities and hospital policies and procedures as acquired through on-the-job training. Knowledge of basic non-technical skills as acquired through on-the-job training. Physical Normal hospital environment. Close eye work. Frequent exposure to unpleasant fumes and odors. Hearing of normal and/or soft tones. Distinguish smells. Distinguish temperatures by touch and proximity. Exposure to biological hazards requiring use of safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment. Demonstrate the ability to operate or learn to operate a multi-line phone, copier, fax, standard computer programs such as word. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the licensed Registered Nurse, performs tasks and activities related to patient care to an assigned group of patients. Observes practices, functions, and care models of licensed Registered Nurse. Provides care for patients in accordance with age specific needs; provide care in accordance with any identifiable cultural diversity needs (such as religious beliefs, lifestyles, physical capabilities and cultures). Routinely greet and escort patients. Operate hospital software, equipment and assist with vital sign collection according to established hospital protocols. Successfully completes advanced concepts and training sessions. Must have a neat appearance and positive disposition and be able to work well with individuals from varied backgrounds. Must be conscientious, dependable and adhere to the goals, policies and mission of the medical center. Regular attendance on the job during the required hours, including being on time for the start of required shifts is essential.
