Responsibilities Include: Perform audits of clinical and operational processes, analyze data from quality indicators, and participate in the development and review of action plans. Coordinate and perform training with facility staff according to action plans and in line with policies and procedures. Participates in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Department. Participate in the development, maintenance, and implementation of the facility's quality assurance program for the nursing service department. Attends department head meetings and assumes responsibility for daily and weekly clinical meetings. In conjunction with Administrator, manages facility surveys made by authorized government agencies. Serve on, participate in, and attend various committees of the facility (i.e., Infection Control, Policy Advisory, Pharmaceutical, Budget, Quality Assurance & Assessment, etc.). Determine the staffing needs of the nursing service department while adhering to the nursing services budget. Assist in the recruitment and selection, hiring, and orientation of nursing service personnel. Provides training and orientation to newly hired facility Director of Nursing. Conducts employee conferences, counseling, and evaluations. Assist support services in developing, implementing, and conducting in-service training programs that relate to the nursing service department. Make daily rounds of the nursing service department to ensure that all nursing service personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards. Review complaints and grievances made or filed and make appropriate reports to the Administrator as required or as may be necessary. Participate in the interviewing and selection of residents for admission to the facility, including the PASARR screenings. Provide direct nursing care as necessary. Assumes responsibility/authority for decision regarding all aspects of nursing care, consulting with Administrator, Nurse Consultants, and Corporate resources. Attend and participate in continuing education programs designed to keep you abreast of changes in your profession, as well as to maintain your license on a current status. Coordinates with VPCS when not acting as DON for additional assignments. Performs other related assignments as required. Position Requirements: Must possess a current, unencumbered, active Registered Nurse license in state of practice. Must have, as a minimum, two (2) years of experience as a DON in a long-term or skilled nursing care facility, or other related health care facility. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant. Knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office products and various electronic health records preferred. Must be willing and able to travel up to 100%. Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care. Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel. Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. Be able to read, write, and speak fluent English. Previous long-term care experience preferred. Regular, dependable, and reliable attendance. Our Clinical Services Department has an excellent opportunity for a R.N. with skilled nursing experience in Oklahoma City to join the StoneGate team as a Regional Nurse Consultant. This position will be home based in Oklahoma City, OK and will provide consulting services to 3 of our skilled nursing facilities in the region. As the Regional Nurse Consultant RN at StoneGate Senior Living in Oklahoma City, OK you will work collaboratively with facility management teams, and other regional and management company team members to ensure the delivery of quality care and regulatory compliance. The Nurse Consultant acts as the primary resource for training, monitoring and coaching facility Directors of Nursing and Nursing Department staff members. This position participates in mock surveys for assigned facilities and may assist such facilities during annual and complaint surveys by State and CMS, including preparation and implementation of plans of correction. Assesses the knowledge, skills, techniques, procedures, and performance of the facility nursing staff. Reviews documentation in the resident medical records for accuracy, timeliness, and applicability. Identifies and evaluates areas of concern pursuant to positive resident care and as it relates to state and federal regulations. Assures that nursing staff is aware, knowledgeable, and informed by providing training and presentations on techniques, procedures, regulations, company policies, and other information as needed. In conjunction with the facility Director of Nursing and/or Administrator, develops action plans to address concerns, correct problems, and implement new/changed procedures. Reports findings to the facility Director of Nursing, Administrator, Regional Director of Operations, Vice President of Clinical Services. Assists with survey management when on site during a survey. Reviews and analyzes state survey and quality assurance deficiencies to aid in the need assessments and development of action plans. Provides training and orientation for newly hired facility Director of Nursing. Demonstrates strong knowledge of state and federal regulations, quality measures, and quality assurance procedures. Demonstrates flexibility regarding assignments and may in the absence of the Director of Nursing, assign and delegate nursing supervisory responsibilities as appropriate to ensure quality resident care. Performs special assignments as needed/requested Qualifications: Current, valid RN license. Thorough knowledge of applicable state/federal regulations and standards of care. Minimum of two years of experience in long-term care, preferably as a DON, Nurse Consultant, or Administrator. Management/Supervisory experience required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills needed. Strong written and verbal skills required. Knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office products and various electronic health records preferred. Must be willing and able to travel. Infection Control Certification preferred. Must obtain certification within 60 days of hire.
