Texas Oncology is looking for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our team! This full-time position will support the Paris location. This position will support the Medical Oncology department. Typical hours for this position are Mon-Fri from 9am-5pm.

This position will be either a level 1, 2 or Sr based on candidate experience

What does the Advanced Practice Provider do? (including but not limited to)

The primary role of the APP is to provide direct diagnostic and therapeutic patient care, in collaboration with practice physicians. The APP impacts quality of patient care and patient outcomes throughout the care continuum. APPs support and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities

Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients.
Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated.
Performs procedures after appropriate training.
Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.
Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
Incorporates the developing knowledge of evidence-based research into clinical practice.
Developing knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion.
May provide case management for patients and their families, given limited knowledge of community resources.
May promote/provide staff education
Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals and weekend or after-hour calls.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Advanced Practice Provider position will have the following background and experience:

Nurse Practitioner

Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program. This position is entry-level and typically requires a minimum of 0-3 years post MSN experience, preferably in the chosen specialty. RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.

Physician Assistant

Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Current NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) certification. This position is entry-level and typically requires 0-3 years of experience as a practicing Physician Assistant, preferably in the chosen specialty. Current state license as a Physician Assistant in practicing state. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.

Clinical Nurse Specialist

Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Clinical Nurse Specialist program. This position is entry-level and typically requires a minimum of 0-3 years of post-MSN experience, preferably in the chosen specialty. RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current state licensure as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.

Career Opportunity: Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada (CCCN) is seeking a Advanced Practice Provider (APP) who works collaboratively with physicians, is responsible for providing comprehensive care and who demonstrates a high degree of clinical expertise in working with patients with oncologic and hematologic conditions. This position will be located at our Stephanie clinic, located in the Henderson, NV area. The APP (either APRN or PA) provides care within his/her scope of practice as outlined by applicable state law, licensing, regulations, and institutional policy and practice agreements. Scope: Under supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, involved in the care of individuals, families and patient groups who are dealing with cancer or other related diagnosis. This care may be in clinic or virtually, via telemedicine. Responsibilities may include duties related to prevention, screening, patient care, management, and research. May serve as direct caregiver, health care consultant, patient educator, administrator, or researcher. Ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards and requirements. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards Responsibilities Responsibilities: US ONCOLOGY ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for individual patients • Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response within practice protocol; prescribes drug therapies per protocol/physician consultation • Assists physicians and performs procedures as needed • Assesses patient/family needs and provides education • Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs • Incorporates evidence-based research into clinical practice • Knowledgeable of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements • Completes patient charge tickets • Provides case management for oncology clients and their families • Serves as a resource person for the nursing staff by providing information being studied in clinical trials • May supervise the activities of clinical nursing CCCN ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Conducts comprehensive or episodic health history and physical assessment of oncology/hematology patients with acute, chronic and/or potential health problems • Communicate and collaborate effectively with physicians, other health professionals and health related agencies • Oversee treatment infusions and supportive care needs • Write specific orders within the limits of the practice agreement/scope of practice including chemotherapy • Follow ethical principles regarding patient confidentiality, informed consent and unanticipated adverse outcomes • Maintain clinical documentation according to practice guidelines and standards • Participate in education of students, new APPs, and other health care professionals • Participate in organizational and departmental meetings, educational opportunities, committees and workgroups as necessary • Active engagement and promotion of CCCN research program Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: APRN: Successful completion of Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program Nationally certified as AGNP, ANP, FNP, AGNP, or GNP Active State of Nevada Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and Registered Nurse (RN) license PA-C: Successful completion of a course of training in residence as a physician assistant approved by one of the following entities affiliated with the American Medical Association or its successor organization: The Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation or is successor organization The Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation or is successor organization The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program or its successor organization The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistants or its successor organization Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants or its successor organization PREFERABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Two or more years of clinical experience in outpatient oncology setting as an APP AOCNP certification (Once eligible, obtainment of AOCNP certification required) PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
