Approximately 2000 babies are born each year at UNC Health Johnston. Over a thousand patients are also seen in its triage area. The unit consists of 13 labor and delivery rooms, 4 triage rooms, and 2 operating rooms across our 2 campuses Smithfield and Clayton. Anesthesia coverage is provided 24/7. Summary: The Clinical Nurse IV practices at the level of an expert practitioner of nursing as defined by Benner, P. (1984). From Novice to Expert. Addison-Wesley Publishing Company. The nurse at this level demonstrates expertise in caring for patients with multiple and complex problems.
