As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will carry out our Mission of Love by ensuring the care of our residents is provided in a safe, caring, timely, and appropriate manner by maintaining the appropriate competencies and skills through continuing education that encompasses all of these areas. This will include assisting our residents in reaching or attaining the highest potential in their physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being.
Our Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for the following:
- Provides Practical Nursing care for our residents in a safe, caring, timely and appropriate manner to assist each resident in attaining their highest potential in their physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being, within the scope of practice and Masonic Village policies and procedures.
- Monitors nursing care by visiting residents routinely to ensure continuity and continual evaluation of care as related to the IDCP and physician's orders. Assesses resident's condition and nursing care needs, assures that medications, treatments, and care are provided as ordered or specified on the IDCP. Maintains appropriate documentation of nursing observations, including follow-up documentation in the medical record in accordance with acceptable medical standards of practice. Prepares equipment and assists physician during rounds or special treatments and examinations of residents. Provides direct resident care and transports residents to activities and appointments as time permits. Answers call lights promptly. Performs glucometer readings, EKG's and other testing as needed. Assists with direct resident care including bathing, feeding, making beds, toileting and transporting residents to appointments and activities.
- Observes residents and answers call bells in a timely manner to respond to residents' care needs. Reports observations, changes, unusual conditions or reactions to supervisor or appropriate discipline in a timely manner. Takes appropriate action as requested or required by the situation. Notifies family of change in residents condition or hospitalization according to Masonic Village policy.
- Functions as an advocate for the resident and resident's family by supplying and interpreting information supporting decisions and facilitating communications. Participates in resident and family education as planned through the ID team.
- Provides high quality nursing care while utilizing universal precautions during all assignments. Carries out assigned tasks in accordance with regulations established by federal, state, local and private accreditation organizations.
What You Need as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN):
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse.
- Current LPN or RN licensure by the PA State Board of Nursing.
- CPR certification (prior to or upon employment).
- Previous experience in long-term care preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge required.
- Effective oral and written communication skills required.
