Nurse Manager Opportunity - Inpatient Adult Behavioral Health
The Pavilion Behavioral Health System includes a 110 bed inpatient hospital, a residential treatment center for youth and a residential addictions treatment program. Outpatient services include partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient services, as well as The Pavilion Foundation School, a private day school serving students with learning disabilities and behavior disorders. The Pavilion is located in Champaign, IL, within minutes of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus.

The Nurse Manager assumes the responsibility of overseeing and coordinating the total assessment, planning, implementation of patient care, ensuring that quality services are rendered to patients in accordance with the State of Illinois’ Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission, Medicare, etc., and sets standards for the adult unit. In conjunction with the Director of Nursing, ensures maintenance of appropriate staffing on the adult unit with respect to census and acuity levels.

Responsibilities:
- Together with the Director of Nursing sets and displays standards for the adult unit in accordance with state and federal regulations governing nursing practice and the Illinois Board of Nursing, establishes clinical goals and objectives for the adult unit that reflect the hospital’s plan and encourages innovative patterns of clinical practice.
- Collaborates with the Director of Nursing the development of the unit budget necessary to carry out the patient care program; supports approved budget and goals. Ensures maintenance of appropriate staffing of the adult unit reflective of the census and patient acuity. Manages the adult unit fte’s within defined parameters.
- Trains and develops unit staff to meet the needs of the adult population.
- Assists Director of Nursing with Performance Improvement initiatives for the adult unit.
- Assists Director of Nursing with the development and revision of policies and procedures according to established standards of nursing care.
- Monitors and improves patient satisfaction scores on the adult unit.
- Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient’s age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care.
- Monitors and improves employee satisfaction scores on the adult unit.
- Assists Utilization Review Dept. in monitoring the lengths of stay of patients taking into consideration the patient’s clinical presentation, previous response to treatment, resources available and requirements of external regulatory agents.
- Develops positive rapport with the Medical Staff.
- Participates in committees as requested by the Director of Nursing to enhance the quality of patient care.
- Investigates incidents on the adult unit, submits reports to Administration, Risk Manager and other outside agencies as appropriate.
- Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to work in an environment that provides care to adult patients.
- Demonstrates clear understanding of the importance of patient, visitor and staff safety. Monitors general condition of the adult unit. Notifies appropriate personnel regarding problems and potential risks to safety.
- Adheres to the standards and commitments of the Hospital and Departmental Service Excellence Action Plan.
- Collaborates with Director of Nursing to conduct regular, effective staff meetings.
- Assists infection control coordinator with the hospital’s infection control plan.

Requirements
- Licensed in the state of Illinois as a Registered Professional Nurse and CPR certification required
- Experience: Prior clinical psychiatric nursing experience and two years managerial experience preferred. Demonstrates progressive roles in nursing leadership.
- Skills: Strong communication and listening skills. Able to project a positive image and reflect a high degree of professionalism.
