Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting patients with activities designed to maintain personal hygiene such as bathing, grooming, and skin care.

  • Assisting patients with ambulation, transfers, and turns.

  • Ensuring a clean and orderly patient environment to promote safety and infection prevention.

  • Notifying clinical staff of any changes in a patient’s condition or safety concerns.

  • Applying infection control concepts and techniques.

  • Monitoring, recording, and effectively communicating the patient’s condition, activities, behaviors, and safety concerns utilizing computerized documentation systems and other means as appropriate.

  • Taking vital signs and performing phlebotomy (blood draws) and glucose checks.

About this unit This 48-bed unit is dedicated to ortho/neuro/trauma. Some specific diagnoses’ are total knee, total hip, spinal fusions, and fractured hips. We are Stroke and Trauma certified and complete additional education every three months to better care for this population of patients. Our multidisciplinary team includes RN’s, nurse techs, nursing assistants, unit secretaries, PT/OT, orthopedic care coordinator and case managers, Nurse to patient ration is 1:4-6 and Nurse Assistant ratio is 1:8-10.
