Medication Aide Responsibilities include: 

  • You will be responsible for setting up and administering resident medications as ordered by physicians and per professional standards of medication administration, and may supervise CNAs as directed
  • Provides patients' personal hygiene by giving bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaves; assisting with travel to the bathroom; helping with showers and baths
  • Provides for activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding patients as necessary; ambulating, turning, and positioning patients; providing fresh water and nourishment between meals
  • Maintains patient stability by checking vital signs and weight; testing urine; recording intake and output information

Qualifications:

Responsibilities Administer medication to residents according to prescribed orders and established policies and procedures Document medications administered and any observed reactions or changes in resident condition Monitor residents for any possible adverse reactions to medication and report findings to the nurse Assist residents with activities of daily living, such as dressing, grooming, and bathing Foster a positive and supportive environment for residents, promoting their dignity and independence Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans Contribute to the maintenance of a clean and organized medication room and stock supplies as needed Requirements Valid certification as a Medication Aide High School Diploma or equivalent Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a long-term care or assisted living facility Excellent knowledge of medication administration procedures and guidelines Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively Compassionate and patient-centered approach to resident care Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Basic computer skills and proficiency in electronic medical records systems (EMR) Current CPR and First Aid certification
