Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center is Southwest Washington’s most modern hospital, offering the latest technology in a setting designed for comfort and care for the whole family. We feature innovations in joint replacement, robotic surgery, pelvic health for women, cancer care, intensive care for newborns, neurosurgery, medical care for children and more. Legacy Salmon Creek is a Joint Commission accredited Primary Stroke Center. The Emergency Department has 32 beds, with 75,000 annual visits. We have a unique triage intake process with a provider in triage. This process helps improve patient flow and satisfaction. Responsibilities Responsible for patient care within an assigned department/unit and participates as a member of the health care team in cooperation with and under the direction of the clinical manager or designee as defined by the relevant Standards and Scope of Practice for the Registered Nurse. The RN Staff Nurse assesses, analyzes, plans, implements and evaluates patient care following established patient care standards for Legacy Health System including those for patient assessment and transfer. Qualifications Education: As required by licensure. BSN or degree in progress strongly preferred. BSN may be required for specific assignments; experienced RNs without a BSN may be hired based on clinical experience with approval of the site CNO. Experience: One-year registered nursing experience or completion of either the Legacy Health RN Residency program or a nursing program that is equivalent in content, curriculum and duration. Additional clinical experience requirements may vary dependent upon the specific department in which the position is utilized. Emergency RN experience preferred. Knowledge/Skills: Demonstrated ability of positive interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, patients, families, physicians and the community. Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions. Licensure Current applicable state RN license required. AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers. The expectation of this job is to be available and flexible to travel to various sites throughout Legacy Health and provide patient care. Responsibilities Responsible for patient care within an assigned department/unit and participates as a member of the health care team in cooperation with and under the direction of the clinical manager or designee as defined by the relevant Standards and Scope of Practice for the Registered Nurse. The RN Staff Nurse assesses, analyzes, plans, implements and evaluates patient care following established patient care standards for Legacy Health System including those for patient assessment and transfer. The Vascular Access Nurse provides consultation for providers and nurses for the most appropriate vascular access device based on patient assessment and the treatment plan. Places vascular access devices such as: peripheral intravenous catheters (PIV), Peripheral Inserted Central Catheters (PICC), Midline catheters and Intra-osseous catheters. Accesses and de-accesses implanted ports. Assesses and manages central venous access devices including routine dressing changes, cap changes and intervenes to maintain patency of central venous access devices. Serves as a resource for the health care team in the intravenous access, placement, management, and patient/family education for care and maintenance. Service area is both inpatient and outpatient. Qualifications Education: As required by licensure. BSN or degree in progress strongly preferred. BSN may be required for specific assignments; experienced RNs without a BSN may be hired based on clinical experience with approval of the site CNO. Experience: One-year registered nursing experience or completion of either the Legacy Health RN Residency program or a nursing program that is equivalent in content, curriculum and duration. Additional clinical experience requirements may vary dependent upon the specific department in which the position is utilized. Thorough knowledge of care and skill in placement of peripheral IV catheters; thorough knowledge of care of central IV access devices and PICC competency as determined by Nurse Manager or designee. Vascular access experience strongly preferred. Knowledge/Skills: Demonstrated ability of positive interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, patients, families, physicians and the community. Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions. Licensure Applicable state RN license required; other state of practice RN license required within six months of hire. AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers. Pay Range USD $54.37 - USD $81.21 /Hr. Salmon Creek Medical Center is certified for Level III neonatal care. Our NICU is able to care for 25 critically ill newborns. Our unit features 15 private rooms, three rooms for twins, and space for four more babies in our special care nursery. Family space, including a sleeping area is built into each family room.
