Overview
The Assistant Director of Nursing maintains standards of the practice for nursing as defined by the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice and Nursing's Social Policy Statement. The Assistant Director of Nursing actualizes the vision, mission, values, balanced scorecard and performance measures for Montefiore Medical Center. The Assistant Director of Nursing participates in performance improvement/research activities; maintains professional practice standards and clinical expertise; and demonstrates leadership skills. The Assistant Director of Nursing demonstrates core and unit specific competencies based on the patient population served. The position is responsible for all administrative issues and the coordination of fiscal, human and other resources needed to provide patient care services within the medical center. The ADN role models service excellence. He/she participates in performance improvement and research activities; maintains professional practice standards; and demonstrates leadership and management skills.Responsibilities

- Innovation & Learning Demonstrates professional growth and accountability for own practice. * Supports the mission, vision, strategic plan, balanced scorecard measures, and Standards of Professional Practice of Nursing of Montefiore Medical Center. * Performs within the scope of practice as defined by the New York State Department of Education. * Complies with Montefiore Medical Center’s Human Resource Policies and Procedures including attendance and dress code. * Successfully completes mandatory education programs. * Attends Montefiore Medical Center’s educational programs as appropriate. * Participates in and contributes to a Department of Nursing/Hospital Committee. * Effectively communicates with all levels of the organization. * Contributes to the growth and development of staff through mentor relationships and formal and informal education. * Remains current of advances in professional nursing practice through review of pertinent literature, attendance at outside educational programs and professional networking. * Maintains active membership in a professional organization. * Achieves or maintains ANCC certification. * Completes and prioritizes work appropriately. * Seeks resources and assistance as needed. * Completes other duties as assigned. Demonstrates the ability to perform Assistant Director of Nursing duties. * Maintains licensure. * Successful completion of annual mandatory education.
Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or related field Required
- of Science degree in Nursing or related field Preferred
- 1-3 years management experience Required
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
- Effective management skills necessary to organize direct and evaluate the activities of patient care off shift operations.
- Ability to apply and utilize the balanced scorecard measures (customer service, financial, innovation and growth, and performance improvement).
- Critical thinking and analytic skills necessary for problem solving and clinical decision-making.
- Computer literacy.
- OHS Annual Assessment Required
- OHS Fit Test Required
- New York State Registered Professional Nurse License and current registration. Required
- American Nurses Credentialing Center Certification in Nursing Administration or Advanced Administration Preferred
