About our Float Medical Assistant position
Under the supervision and direction of the Health Center Manager, provides support to patients and co-workers by performing, with accuracy and timeliness, a variety of clinical and administrative tasks in different areas of the health center. The Float Senior Medical Assistant demonstrates proficiency in all relevant front office and back office duties, and regularly travels to specific sites. This position works under the supervision of the on-site Health Center Manager and the Area Services Director.
This is a full-time (37.5 hours/week) non-exempt, union position at our Health center.
What you will be doing!
- Assists patients by responding to requests and coordinating services from appropriate personnel or departments as needed
- Enters accurate and complete visit data into affiliate systems.
- Provides non-judgmental, client-centered care, and provides accurate information by answering questions and providing appropriate resources.
- Utilizes comprehensive knowledge of birth control methods and reproductive health services to provide patient education. Provides Planned Parenthood Patient Education Sheets, (PES) and Informed Consent forms, (ICF) and offers Planned Parenthood services or community resources for identified patient needs.
- Provides patients and co-workers with excellent customer service in all interactions and tasks. Utilizes service recovery when appropriate and seeks assistance from co-workers or the health center manager to ensure resolution.
- Optimizes patient satisfaction and efficient use of provider time by providing patient education appropriate to each type of visit; ensures that exam rooms are adequately stocked and prepared prior to visit.
- Keeps appointments on schedule through ongoing communication with the PCTL, the clinician and the health center manager.
- Acts as a resource for other staff members, supports and participates in ongoing learning and development of the staff team in the health center.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by adhering to and complying with infection and exposure control procedures; OSHA, WISHA, CLIA, PPFA, and affiliate policies and procedures.
- Serves as an assistant and support person to licensed staff members during procedures including abortion (surgical and medication abortions), vasectomy, colposcopy, LEEP, HTS, and other procedures performed by affiliate; may be responsible for the preparation of POC for physician review and be responsible for its disposal per agency and state guidelines
- Participates in providing informed consent for a variety of services in compliance with ethical and legal standards of informed consent; ensures that all required documentation of that process is thorough and complete
- Coordinates referrals for patients who must go outside of affiliate to obtain necessary care
- Participates and completes new and required trainings in a timely manner and maintains current status on certifications and competencies as assigned
Responsibilities:
In addition to meeting all requirements of a Medical Assistant, must model affiliate customer service standards, demonstrate initiative, and competency in at least four of the following areas, based on health center need:
- Cross trained to work both front and back office
- Trained and certified to give injections (MA-Certified in WA State required)
- Health center designated forms and brochures coordinator
- Designated person to run EMR or EPM reports and make corrections such as validation report, pending charges or lab log
- Demonstrates knowledge and expertise with insurance benefit coordination and educates patients accordingly
- Coordinates events and projects in the front office including new employee training and volunteer activities.
- Assists with external referrals and follow-up responsibilities such as primary care referrals and follow-up
- Designated inventory coordination for front desk and office supplies
- Sterilization educator competency completed
- Medication abortion educator competency completed
- Designee for management of Vaccines for Children Requirements
- Competency completed to assist with procedures such as Vasectomy, colposcopy, LEEP and HTS
- Designated coordinator for ongoing research projects
- Demonstrates competency in performing trans-vaginal and abdominal ultrasounds
- Demonstrates exceptional competency with trans-vaginal and abdominal ultrasounds so as to be capable of precepting staff who are still building skills; this includes observing and coaching on best practices
- Job requires significant travel to the various specified work sites on a regular basis. These sites may rotate on a daily or weekly basis.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medical Assistant Certification
- One or two years of experience in an office or medical setting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other software applications; experience with electronic health records
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with reproductive healthcare in a clinical office or hospital setting with knowledge of EHR
Spanish-speaking

Salary Range:
PPGNHAIK's compensation Philosophy is based in equity and transparency. Starting offers are determined by both the candidate's directly applicable experience and internal equity within the paygrade. The pay range for this position is $21.98 to $32.98 hourly
