The Manager of Clinical Education and Professional Development is responsible for leading education strategy, development, and delivery across the organization with a specialized ability to include clinical and non-clinical education on operational efficiency practices. The Manager Clinical Education and Professional Development designs, implements, and evaluates training programs that improve clinical competencies, patient care quality, and patient safety, while also supporting operational performance, and regulatory compliance. This includes developing and maintaining evidence-based educational programs that strengthen clinical practice standards, enhance interprofessional collaboration, and ensure competency validation across all disciplines. The role requires close collaboration with hospital leadership, nursing, ancillary departments, and administrative teams to optimize both clinical outcomes and operational performance.

Essential Functions
Administrative
- Responsible to promote, sustain and assess effectiveness of the accreditation program, nursing practice, professional development, research, clinical education, evidenced based practice, quality care and patient outcomes.
- Develop and oversee system-wide competency frameworks that ensure consistent clinical practice standards in the facility.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate education programs that support hospital operations, patient throughput, and clinical excellence and aligned with organizational goals.
- Develops and aligns strategies, initiatives, supporting infrastructure, and budgets that enable the system to achieve results that align with established practices and procedures to create and sustain operational excellence.
- Coordinate orientation, ongoing competency development, and annual training programs for staff.
- Collaborates with nursing leadership, nursing staff and other disciplines to organize Nursing Education, Quality Improvement and Research programs.
- Lead the design and implementation of competency assessment tools, skills validation, and performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and quality outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation requirements related to staff training and hospital operations.
- Exhibits expertise on practice and regulatory compliance: Expert knowledge and application of national, state and institutional nursing regulations, education, clinical training, licensure, certification and scope of practice. Advocates for top of license practice.
- Contributes to an annual report to chronicle divisional campus/regional progress made toward implementing goals and initiatives.
- Oversees the Clinical Practice Nurse Educators, all FT and Per-diem staff
- Organizes nurse educators to meet the educational needs of the nursing staff using the nursing department organizational plan and current developments in the institution and System.
- Maintains accountability for fiscal matters of the Nursing Professional Development team.
- Creates and implements a shared vision for Nursing Professional Development throughout the facility.
- Responsibility, accountability and decision-making authority for facilitating the implementation of systems, programs and strategic initiatives that advance nursing professional practice development and clinical education.
- Advances the nursing profession by increasing nurse-led evidence-based practice projects and research studies throughout the region and supports dissemination of the work through publications and conference presentations at the regional and national level.
- Supports the leadership in developing units practice council, Shared governance model to engage and empower front line staff in development of NDNQI data metric collection, and quality improvement plans.
- Creates and develops evidence-based policies, procedures, protocols, and best practice models/guidelines using advanced clinical and specialty knowledge.
- Leads and supports in designations efforts of the institutions such as Pathways to Excellence, ANCC and or Magnet Designation
- Participates in Nursing Quality Improvement activities.
- In conjunction with senior leadership, establishes role accountabilities and expectations, performance standards, and methods for measuring/monitoring of standards for nursing in collaboration with Nursing leaders and CNO
- Collaborate with Nursing leaders, Infection prevention, QI Directors, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to identify educational needs and provide educational support to staff.
- Responses to regulatory mandates for research and management of sentinel events
- Responds to identified needs of Carewell Health to promote quality patient care and safety.
- Supports the integration of research into practice.
- Incorporates current educational evidence into individual practice as a staff development expert.
- Conducts and/or contributes to nursing research.
- Interprets, communicates, and incorporates research findings into program planning.
- Partners with key stakeholders to lead all aspects of the ANCC accreditations, and ANA Approved Provider status for continuing nursing education to include alignment and learning among nurses on the standards of professional development and nursing professional practice.
- Serve as an instructor and facilitator for organization-wide certification and continuing education programs (e.g., life support, emergency response, and other regulatory or specialty certifications) as required by role, department, or accrediting bodies.
- Support clinical educators and preceptors across the system in delivering high-quality competency-based education.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary leadership team members to develop and execute initiatives addressing the learning needs of professional nurses to meet the needs of the diverse patient population across the region.
- Responsible for building strong professional relationships and collaborates with other nursing communities and professional organizations, the Board of Nursing, Schools, American Nurses Association and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as well as internal and external consultants to enhance a culture of excellence.
- Utilize innovative training methods to support diverse learners.
- Leads committees, work groups and/or projects related to the implementation of educational activities.
- Leads operations for the academic interface for schools and colleges of nursing in planning for clinical rotations.
- Evaluates program/student placement effectiveness on an ongoing basis.

- Current RN license (multi-state compact or state of practice).
- Certification in Nursing Professional Development (NPD-BC), NE-BC, NEA-BC or equivalent is a desired or preferred certification.
- 7+ years in healthcare, with at least 5 years in nursing or hospital leadership.
- Strong presentation, communication, and facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence change across clinical and operational teams.
- Demonstrated success in developing and delivering staff education programs.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory/accreditation standards (e.g., CMS, Joint Commission).
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS instructor preferred.
