Overview
Our Pre-Admission Testing Unit provides pre-procedural assessment, evaluation, diagnostic testing, and education for patients once they have been scheduled for a procedure by their physician’s office. The PAT team communicates with and works collaboratively with physicians and anesthesia providers to optimize patients prior to their procedure. PAT is located on the first floor of the Medical Tower. The unit is staffed with a team of RNs, CRNPs,and Perioperative Technicians. Leadership is comprised of a Nurse Manager, Team Leader and a designated Charge Nurse. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:30am-4:30pm. Patient experience and patient safety are our top priorities embedded in all the services we provide.
Responsibilities
Plans, coordinates and directs quality, compassionate care by maintaining standards of professional nursing practice and creating positive therapeutic relationships with patients/families. Provides leadership to other team members by articulating and delegating expected standards of care, supervising and encouraging team members, and supporting their contributions. Supervises LPNs, PCAs, PCAs/US, US, ED Tech, ED Clerical/PCA, CRSS and OTs.

Qualifications
Current Alabama RN licensure. Associate degree in Nursing required. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider training required. Professional Nursing Certifcation preferred. Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.

- Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Must be able to tolerate prolonged periods of standing and walking
- Must be able to reach reasonable distances in any direction
- Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, bend, sit and stoop
- Must be able to run in an emergency
- Must have the ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull and carry objects

- Hearing and vision must be normal or corrected to within normal range.
- Physical presence onsite is essential.
