Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is a highly responsible professional registered nurse position with the Division of Children's Medical Services Safety Net Program.  The Safety Net Nurse is  an integral member of the Safety Net Team.  The individual in this position utilizes nursing process to provide pediatric nursing expertise for review of client and provider eligibility for services covered by the Safety Net Program. This position is responsible for:

• Processing referrals for Safety Net, ensuring appropriate documentation of activities and quality assurance reviews.
• Liaison with Safety Net providers regarding enrollment and invoice process.
• Communications with providers and create provider agreements within established guidelines.  
• Evaluates the health status of the patient through parent-based screening.  
• Explains and interprets the client’s special needs as reported by parent/caregiver. Provides supportive counseling, teaching and guidance to client and family.
• Provides clinical education and quality improvement activities to ensure needs of child and family are met.
• Provides clinical support to Safety Net Staff assistants and financial assistants. 
• Ensures appropriate document of activities in accordance with established guidelines while using the current electronic medical record program.
• Conducts quality assurance reviews.
• Analyzes data and interpret findings.
• Provides information concerning availability of pediatric treatment, programs, and facilities, interprets Safety Net policies and procedures, promotes community awareness and understanding of the program.
• Serves as a community resource professional in the specialized medical field of pediatrics.

• Knowledge in medical terminology and procedure codes.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, TEAMS and other software
• Must be able to multitask.
• Must be an active listener and ask questions as appropriate.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

• Must be licensed in the State of Florida as a Registered Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or have a Compact License from a State that participates in the Compact Program.

Preferred:

• 1 year Pediatric Nursing Experience  
• 3 - 5  years of nursing experience
• Experience conducting a screening for eligibility for a program. 
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, Outlook and TEAMS
