Description of Service Opportunity:

The 2026 Summer Charge Nurse will serve as the point of contact for up to 7 Summer Building Nurses, taking primary responsibility for scheduling staff coverage and providing medical advice and resources. In addition, the Charge Nurse will provide medical support and advice to buildings without an assigned onsite nurse.
The Summer Charge Nurse will report to the district Operations Manager, with support from the CHA school nurse manager.

The Summer Building Nurse will be available from 8am - 12:00 pm (up to 20 hrs per week) for 4 weeks, from Monday July 6 - Friday July 31st. In addition, the Summer Charge Nurse will work up to 10 hours of pre-program preparation, including staff scheduling, records management and orientation.

Nurses will be hired to support one of the following buildings: CRLS, Haggerty, M.L. King/ PAUS, King Open/CSUS, Morse, Peabody/RAUC, and Tobin/DVUS. In the event that all positions are not filled, nurses will be required to support two buildings. Duties will include:

Coordinates coverage of all program sites, including staff schedules and management of per-diem staff to cover absences.
Coordinates staff record keeping processes and access to student records. maintaining up to date CPS student health information for the summer.

Minimum Requirements:

Requirements:
Must be a Registered Nurse, Licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant.
Must have three (3) to five (5) years of experience in nursing, with Charge nurse experience
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to be empathic and listen to others.
Preference will be given to current CHA employees.
Experience working with youth. Nursing experience within a school setting preferred.

July - August: Monday July 6th - Friday July 31st

Contract Amount

Not exceed $7220.00

Please note that your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate. If you are a non-exempt employee and have worked more than 40 hours a week, you will be paid time and a half for any hours worked over 40 hours
