Summary

This is a full time, 36 hour night shift position (11p-7a).

Mid Coast Hospital's Emergency Department has 23 beds and is staffed 24/7 by highly qualified nurses and physicians. The Emergency Department provides initial treatment to patients of all ages with a broad spectrum of illnesses and injuries. Team members provide rapid assessment and management of critical illnesses, as well as prompt care of minor illnesses and injuries.

The Registered Nurse role is responsible for the management of patient care, including clinical nursing practice/caring, leadership, management, professionalism, and growth/development, as well as the independent assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required; BSN preferred.
  • License/Certifications: Current applicable state(s) license as a Registered Professional Nurse required. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. ICU, SCU, ED and PACU RN’s require ACLS and PALS Certifications within one year of start date or in accordance with Department guidelines. OB, NICU RN’s require NRP Certification within one year of start date or in accordance with Department guidelines
  • Experience: One year of RN experience required. Demonstrates competency in all essential functions of a Registered Nurse – Acute Care role.
  • Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Annual Electronic Fetal Monitoring competency for any RN assisting Laboring Women required.

This team specializes in the care of patients with oncologic diagnoses including lung cancer, mesothelioma, esophageal cancer, thyroid and salivary gland tumors, adrenocortical carcinomas, peripheral nerve sheath tumors, cutaneous malignancies, and sarcomas. The Triage RN plays a key role in managing and coordinating patient care and treatment. This position collaborates closely with members of the multidisciplinary team, including Medical Assistants (MAs), Clinical Team Assistants (CTAs), Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), attending physicians, IV Therapy team members, authorization specialists, and NorDx laboratory staff, among others. Experience in both oncology and triage nursing is strongly preferred for this role. However, candidates with triage experience in other specialties will also be considered. Equally important to clinical experience is a candidate’s attitude, adaptability, and overall cultural fit within the team. The individual selected for this position must be flexible and comfortable working in a dynamic environment. The practice is currently undergoing operational changes and will continue to evolve as workflows are improved and processes are optimized. Summary The Registered Nurse – Patient Navigator – MHMG MMCP role guides patients through the care continuum, establishing contact with recurrent and newly diagnosed cancer patients and/or family members, or caregivers. The Patient Navigator will understand the clinical pathways established by the Oncology Program and will direct the patients to health care services within the organization, at outside facilities, and within the community for timely diagnosis, treatment and survivorship. Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs) Education: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing required.
