Registered Nurse, PRN

Primary Responsibilities:

• Aid Physicians, NP/PAs; including but not limited to new patient referral records review, rooming patients, updating records; patient education, counseling, dietary and medication management
• Administer IV Biologics, IV Iron, and IV fluids via peripherally inserted catheters 1-5 days per week.
• Identifies, assesses and diagnoses problems through patient assessment and interactions; and evaluates actual or potential patient health problems.
• Develops and participates in educating patients, their families, or significant others about post
• discharge care programs.
• Initiates patient care meetings with the health care team to revise the plan of care as the patient’s

condition warrants.

• Maintains a safe and therapeutic patient care environment.
• Provides guidance and direction to members of the health care team to ensure quality patient

care.

• Keeps current on advances in nursing care by participating in educational programs.
• Orients and educates new staff in nursing techniques and departmental procedures.
• Provides and oversees direct patient care in accordance with established nursing protocol and

physicians’ orders.

• Utilizes knowledge of medications, procedures, infection control, and safety precaution; and

initiates appropriate interventions in crisis situations.

• Participates in total quality management to positively affect patient and system outcomes to

improve care.

• Documents patient care in the health care record according to standards.
• Directs and delegates care to other team members.
• Providing safe, effective, appropriate and comprehensive infusion services to Gastroenterology patients.
• Provides education and follow-up care after patients have been released from Biologic Infusion.
• Handles patient triage requiring nurse assistance; including but not limited to clinical questions, patient issues, hospital, lab, and other MD office calls
• Manages GI clinical patient portal
• Assists with walk-in patients
• Assists with LabCorp in-house testing issues and questions
• Monitors and maintains refrigerator temperature logs; checks emergency medications.
• Acts as the point person for all medication and product sales representatives
• Manage Infusion clinic supply and medication ordering
• Manages medication prior authorizations, in collaboration with Billing Department
• Assists the Practice Administrator to ensure the infusion clinic complies with all Federal and State regulatory standards.
• Provides guidance to other clinical and non-clinical staff as necessary.
• Maintains Vaccine Program: Hep A/B, Shingrix, Pneumovax
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Associate’s Degree in nursing (Bachelor’s Degree preferred)
• At least one (1) year of infusion therapy experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificate/Licenses:

• Current BLS/ACLS
• State of Alaska Nursing License
