Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

 

Work under the supervision of a licensed vocational nurse or a registered professional nurse to perform the following duties:

 

  • After authorization by the facility’s licensed nurse or the resident’s treating physician, administers PRN medications.
  • Organizes assigned medication duties to pour, pass, and document all routine prescribed medications and to give PRN medication only upon the instruction of the licensed nurse. 
  • Must document all PRN’s according to State Standards in all areas of the chart.
  • Observe and report to the facility’s charge licensed nurse reactions and side effects of medication commonly administered to nursing facility’s residents.
  • Take and record vital signs prior to administration of medications which could affect or change the vital signs.
  • Administer and document regularly prescribed medications which the medication aide is permitted to administer only after personally preparing (setting up) of those medications to be administered.  Document the medications given in the resident’s clinical record.
  • Administer oxygen per nasal channel or a non-sealing face mask only in an emergency.  Immediately after the emergency, the medication aide shall verbally notify the licensed nurse on duty or on call and appropriately  document the activity and notification.
  • At discretion of charge nurse, count narcotics, give all routine prescribed narcotics, and document same on individual sheet and medication sheet.

 

Qualifications

  • Must have successfully completed state approved school of medication administration.
  • Must carry current acknowledgment card or certification issued by state agency.
  • Must be willing to abide by restrictions placed on his/her job by state agency.
  • Must be a certified nursing assistant.

Sampson Regional Medical Center is hiring a Phlebotomist to join the Laboratory team! Description: This is a PRN position. The selected candidate will register patients using Lab Outreach, scan laboratory documents into the EMR, obtain specimens (blood, urine, feces, microbiological specimens) from patients, utilizing appropriate techniques and maintains integrity of specimen according to established procedures, collect blood samples by capillary, arterial and venipuncture. Medical Technologist (MLT-MLS) - PRN - AVALA Hospital RH401

Summary Performs standard laboratory testing for a specialty surgical hospital in order to aid in the treatment of patients and improve patient outcomes. Work is performed with a considerable degree of independence in the application of clinical laboratory knowledge and techniques, and requires judgments in monitoring test procedures, quality control, and test interpretation. Work is performed under the supervision of the Laboratory Administrative Director. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performs laboratory testing with CLIA waived, moderate, and high complexity designations. Shows proficiency in venipuncture and finger sticks. Results out laboratory testing in a timely manner. Assists with interpretation of laboratory results when needed. Assists with laboratory inventory including ordering of supplies if needed. Rotates on-call every 2-3 weeks as schedule requires. Reports critical lab values to the appropriate staff in a timely manner. Teaches routine procedures and orients staff to laboratory services Knowledgeable of criteria of collection and processing of send out labs. Performs proficiency testing, monitors records, and maintains quality control. Assists with and reports infection control as needed. Maintains and calibrates lab equipment; cleans lab according to OSHA and CLIA regulations. Provides test results to requesting clinicians. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve common issues with laboratory analyzers and equipment. Reports any complex issues/problems to the laboratory manager/director. Recognizes age specific lab values. Incorporates age specific parameters into interpretation of lab values. Knowledge of the variety of laboratory procedures applicable to the area(s) of work.
