Akron General’s 30-bed 7100 Unit is a high acuity cardiac Telemetry and Medical/Surgical Unit. This fast-paced team cares for patients who require extensive ADL assistance and complex medical attention. As RN on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in ensuring every patient has the best treatment experience possible. You will gain hands-on experience in complex medical concerns and technologies, providing an unmatched advantage within the healthcare industry. Not only does the position offer the opportunity to positively impact the lives of patients but also provides educational and professional development resources within the Cleveland Clinic Enterprise. 

  

How You’ll Benefit 

  • Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well-Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources. 

A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) variable shifts. You must work 48 hours within a six-week period.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide direct nursing care. 
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.  
  • Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.  
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.  
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)  
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)  
  • External applicants: two years of recent experience in an acute care setting 
  • Internal applicants with less than two years’ experience, but post orientation/90-day probationary period, could be considered with the Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval  
  • Will consider military RN experience 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

A caregiver who excels in this role will: Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs. Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach. Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability). Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk. Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently. Document in patients’ medical records. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program) . Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). New graduate RN OR less than one year of RN work experience. Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).
